I see many posts on Native CAM... but I am not finding anything on HOW to install it.

I'm trying to help out a friend.

It's been a while since Fernand don't let us know any news, I guess some things are changing around NativeCAM, now it is not possible to install NativeCam through synaptic. I have many requests for improvement, but I would not like to bother him because I feel that Fern will update us soon (perhaps... with the release of linuxcnc 2.8??? maybe )

Thank you!

I was able to download the file... and I extracted it to a directory.

Unfortunately... I'm still fairly new to Linux... so I have no idea what to do now.

Apparently I have Axis 2.6.13 currently installed. I suppose I should go to the synaptic package manager and search for AXIS and/or LinuxCNC to look for an upgrade.

After lunch I'll record a small video with step-by-step instructions so that it can also be a guide for those who make the first steps with LinuxCNC. NativeCam is the LinuxCNC "must have".

(-i | --ini=) inifilename inifile used
(-c | --catalog=) catalog valid catalogs = mill, plasma, lathe
-t | --tab axis and gmoccapy only, put NativeCAM in a new tab

2) To prepare your inifile to use NativeCAM embedded,
a) Start in a working directory with your LinuxCNC configuration ini file
cd /home/"user"/linuxcnc/configs/"yourfolder"

b) Type this command :
ncam -i = "inifilename" -c = "valid catalog for this configuration"

A backup of your inifile will be created before it is modified.

After success, you can use it embedded :

Hi,
Thanks for the good video.
I used NativeCam in the past, and want to rebuild it on my current image.
However the link to dropbox in the entries above is not working for me, getting a not found message.
Any chance on getting to that file, in order to follow your instructions??

Thanks,
Frans

I noticed that Fern reactivated the NativeCAM's official page
