Pathpilot V2 and 7i96 MESA Card was created by davidimurray
Now that PP V2 has support for the 7i92 - I was wondering if anyone had tried a 7i96 card. Building a new lathe at the moment and thinking that the 7i96 would be a good low cost option.
Cheers

HI Dave, I have been setting up the 7i80s with PPand they have been extremely well behaved. The 7i80 is basically the same thing only with 4 full ports of I/O.
I would expect teh same behavior from a 7i96.
Very happy here anyways, ( TP

My guess is that a 7I96 would not work with PathPilot because the 7I96 was introduced after Pathpilot was forked from LinuxCNC. It should be possible to merge Pathpilots driver changes with the current LinuxCNC version (or just replace it with the current LinuxCNC version if you don't need ECM board support) but that may be more than most users want to do

HI PCW, please explain more why the 7i96 does not work with PathPilot . It would seem IF the 7i80 worked then the 7i96 should ?? Of course you do have to do a small bit of changing the Hal files to match the new cards I/O.

The 7I96 has a new firmware module for the isolated outputs and that would likely not be supported by Pathpilot. I am not a PathPilot expert but AFAIK they have changed/forked the hm2 driver and are not up-to-date with the latest LinuxCNCs changes
(and the 7I80 was supported before the fork)

PCW, how could we test PathPilot to SEE if it would accept teh 7i96. The 7i96 lloks like a very nice card with teh built in BOB.
PP is a very nice interface as long as you can accept how they do things (

I can make firmware for 5I25 or 7I80 that has the SSR firmware and you could try it
I do expect that you would have to rebuild PathPilot to support newer Mesa cards
