You have your host (PC) address set to 10.10.10.10.
It must be a different number say 10.10.10.100

The same way you previously set the host address to 10.10.10.10

Have you previously edited the /etc/network/interfaces file? If you have, then choose a different 10.10.10.xx address in there.

But if you changed it via a GUI tool, you should make the change there instead.

Have you found this page in the docs?
linuxcnc.org/docs/2.8/html/man/man9/hm2_eth.9.html

You need to change your network properties.

Use static IP
IP 10.10.10.1
Network 255.0.0.0
Gateway 10.10.10.1

and use a static DNS

i never intentionally changed the IP address.i have absolutely 0 idea how to change it, there is not GUI to change the computers IP address from i can see.

How do i change it?

Also not to get to far ahead of myself but i cannot even find a reliable source for setting up the Mesa THCAD control in Linux CNC... i've been trying to get my electronics working for about 3 months now. No luck yet.

I have not modified that file at all manually. I have found it in my computer and attached a screenshot. it doesn't reference any ip addresses at all.

All i did with LinuxCNC was download it and try to plug in my 7i96(set the jumpers to 10.10.10.10 physically on the board) and that was it. i have never intentionally touched or changed any settings that had to do with the ip address. i have absolutely 0 clue how to change it, i've tried googling it and no other distribution of linux has the same GUI so i cant figure out how to do anything.

You can either modify the interfaces file (as described in the hm2_eth manual page)
of you can use the GUI configurator.

For simplicity, I would use the latest LinuxCNC versiion ISO (2.8.2)
as this should have the netmanager GUI for network setup which avoids
issues the previous releases had with the wicd GUI. This should also
have a pncconf version that knows how to setup the THCAD

Hello all it's been a number of years (3+) and i've finally got around to getting this working on this. I graduated as a mechanical engineer and felt comfortable enough to understand this stuff now.  I was able to connect my mesa 7i96, problem was that my linux distribution had issues connecting to the 7i96. I basically upgraded to the latest linuxcnc (currently on debian 12 with linux 2.9.3) and i have the machine moving using AXIS, for some reason when i try to setup the QTPlasmaC and it will not operate .

Here are the errors i'm getting(see image attached), what doesnt make sense to me is that my jitter is the same as when im using AXIS... and AXIS works great!

Honestly my only goal is for the machine to cut metal with the plasma torch and have a functional torch height controller, i dont care which GUI is used.

If anyone could please help me get this machine going i'd greatly appreciate it!!! I have projects that require plasma cut parts and i'm desperate for this machine to work.

Thank you in advanced , have a great day everyone!
