Start in Fullscreen Mode was created by AgentWD40
I've been tinkering with my startup and have it working where xfce automatically logs in and starts linuxcnc (qtplasmac) in full screen mode.

I finally managed to get auto fullscreen using a 3rd part app called devilspie2. But I can't help but wonder, is there an easier way? A way that doesn't involve running another service in the background...

Finally, is there a way to make sure the linuxcnc window loads before the desktop and it's icons load? Just to keep the user from clicking around before linuxcnc loads. This is not a big deal at all, it would just be convenient.

(testing with the current linuxcnc debian iso + linuxcnc 2.9)

Not maximized but fullscreen. To see what I mean press Alt+F11 while the QTPlasmaC window has focus.

It depends on what desktop your running.
xfce = Alt+F11
Cinnamon = F11 or Alt+F12 or maybe not setup by default
Mate = disabled by default

Anyway. I'm setting up for a default linuxcnc iso install with xfce.
fullscreen is much cleaner than maximized.

VS

I gained 2 rows of buttons!

Try something similar to this in the INI:

DISPLAY = qtvcp -f qtplasmac

That works here on MX Linux VirtualBox. But it doesnt take focus, the taskbar is on top of it.

EDIT: Works fine on my actual table.

Curious: how do you plan to have the user exit/shutdown?

Haven't gotten there yet. My first thought is just use one of the customizable buttons to run a script. Ideally the shutdown button would be on another tab though... I need to consider it getting fat fingered. Maybe even a physical button wired in to an input.

It's been a while but I thought it was the original gui concept designer's intention to run this full screen. Did that change or just get overlooked?
