Torch will not Fire was created by Hippy
I upgraded from Plasmac to QTPlasmaC....All went well pretty much painless. I have a fully functioning QTPlasmaC setup, other then my torch will not fire. Like a dummy i deleted my old Plasmac before I found this out and also i cleaned up some wiring in my control box.
So i dont know if i forgot to include something in my HAL when i built it out for QT or I put my torch on/off wires in the wrong location on the 7i96 while cleaning up my box.
Have attached my HAL to look at.

Wait for 15 seconds.
For some unknown reason QTPlasmaC will do that sometimes.
Afterwards it works as it should.

Unfortunately that did not work.
I know my plasma works as my hand torch fires up. Just dug it out to test.
Is the torch on light supposed to be on in the GUI? I can click it on but by default its off.
So its down to 3 likely causes i think. I screwed up something in my HAL, I screwed up my rewiring or I have a wiring issue coming from my cnc port.
The way my torch on/off is currently connected is ssr.00.out-00 and ssr 00.out-01 pretty sure that's how it was before but not 100% positive.

Just a thought. I take it you have it enabled in the gui because it is disabled by default.

Yep have tried it both ways, same results.
Rapids over touches off raises to piece height, dont fire and returns to max Z

From your hal file the torch on signal is on hm2_7i96.0.ssr.00.out-00.

Have a looked at that pin with halmeter or halshow to see if it switches on when it should.

It switches to true when i pulse the torch and air comes out now, just no fire.
The on/off wires i have one connected on hm2_7i96.0.ssr.00.out-00 and the other right next to it at ssr.00.out-01 is this right?

I had the two wires switched and the torch fired when i turned on the plasma, pretty sure that means i had reverse polarity?

Switched them and now air comes out when i fire the torch but no fire.

That has nothing to do with LinuxCNC ...
-check air pressure, must be 5 to 6 bar
-check and change the consumables, tighten them properly
-check the clamp for good contact with material
-check the plasma source for the state, in test mode it will not work remotely.

It should be TB3 13 and 14 which are OUT0- and OUT0+

It's connected to TB3 13 and 14 if you include the "in common" in the count. Its connected to the first two after it. As i said earlier i can switch the wires on the same two pins and the torch fires when i turn the plasma on, so i know the torch head works.
Odd thing is my arc ok light comes on for a brief second but no arc. The torch on light also comes on.
It sounds like i can hear it switching on and off, just never fires, but that might just be the air i am hearing turn on & off.
I have plenty of clean air, pretty clean metal and good ground directly to the metal to be cut.
I dont think my plasma has a test mode or anything.
Only thing i see maybe odd is my voltage offset, it seems high to me but maybe not. It's 100000 not sure that would affect the firing of the torch or not anyways.
Edit: I fixed the voltage offset issue. It now shows 24v when i pulse fire but no fire come out.
Last edit: 16 May 2021 01:45 by Hippy. Reason: fixed one thing
