Before I had to shoot off to work today I came across a thread where someone said the immediate saving was implemented in Lcnc 2.8
So no doubt the thread I mentioned earlier where it was said that Linuxcnc.var was only saved at shutdown, was for version 2.7 or earlier.
This is great news because it means one can simply copy the Linuxcnc.var file to USB after work offsets are set up, and can regain the cut position no matter what disaster happens.
