No, but there is work being done to sort out the differing python3 versions.

For the most part I was going to just run with the standard installation but now I want to see if I can come up with a rapid probing method.

Thanks. I think it was a misunderstanding on my part. I just assumed that a self compiled deb install and a RIP install could coexist. No, but there is work being done to sort out the differing python3 versions.

I am sure I have just such a setup on one of my VM's.
Did you try removing the existing deb install with Synaptic before rebuilding.

If it only QtPlasmaC that you are having path issues with then you can easily change the type in installation:
linuxcnc.org/docs/devel/html/plasma/qtpl...inuxcnc_installation

Yeh I did that but the path remained pointing to the deb environment.
Perfect. I'll give it a try. There isn't much you have not thought of. I still gotta try framing.
So if I update the debs, do I uninstall them or do I just reinstall. I seem to remember there was a way that you could add files somehow that are included in the apt-get search path. Is it worth doing that?

Nor should it, it was removed a week or so ago.
You may need to make clean and/or run configure again.

The latest version of QtPlasmaC should fix the "RUN FROM LINE" issue. I say should because I couldn't get it to do it on my machine/VM, but instead of setting the text as part of an "else" statement, it now only sets the text when run from line is active.
