I used a buck converter similar to below to convert from 24V:

watch out with those little laser diodes l think the metal case is +5v, so if you put them in a metal holder which is at zero volts.... they are not long for this world being usable
put a bit of electrical tape around them before clamping them in a metal holder

Install laser parallel to the torch so moving the torch up and down does not affect the laser position.
place some material under the torch
touchoff x0 y0
jog torch to near pierce height
Pulse the torch
jog machine x,y until the crosshair is exactly over the divot
Record the x,y DRO readings. These are your laser offsets
Update them in your ini file

I mounted my laser to the non-moving portion of the Z axis. No need to fuss with any kind of perpendicularity to the table.
Follow these directions for setting the offset, no need to edit the .ini file manually:
