are you using XFCE4?

during the probe basic installation, it copies the sim files to the linuxcnc selection menu by copying config files to linuxcnc/configs/probe_basic and a few others for atc sim and lathe. those would be opened the same as first opening the axis sim. just select probe basic from that list. is this different from how you were installing it?

I'm going to redo this from scratch and see of I broke something on the way.

Please use the link to download the RC2 version of Debian Bookworm in my instructions as it was released in the last couple of days.

I have alpha 2. I now see rc2. Thanks! I will change to that one before reinstalling.

Oh, i see bd, cd, dvd. i did cd before. does that even matter? bd says something about intel 64. my pc is an i5.

edit: ah, i see its just about size. cd only has a small amount of files then it downloads the rest. ill stick with that unless theres a reason not to. thanks.
