Dear
I m trying to configure a 5 axis machine with W axis for the movment of the machine according to the B,C axis anglew move
the linuxcnc start normaly with no errors but the F1,F2  buttons are not working to start the machine
lcnc 2.8.4-1-gb7824717b on w
The machine works with diferent configuration normaly
Any sugestions?

Perfect. Thank you for your help!

update from today.
The same program is running OK today and holes are round.

I have opened, modified and re-saved the Glade file in the newer Glade editor. The Glade file seems to open fine but none of the hal pins created in the handler file show up. But I have no idea how to fix the Python file. I tried running it through 2to3 but it didn't find anything to change. I REALY don't understand Python and I was barely able to make this one sort of work originally. (The fact that most of the included Linuxcnc example config files don't seem to work for similar reasons isn't helping.)

Hi,
(I am having problems with embeding pictures in this forum, I have no idea how to make it display them)

these are two pictures from yesterday

This picture is from one of the precious jobs (no problem here)

I also got this today, just as I turned on linuxcnc.

You are welcome, still lots to be done, can you share your configuration, does it always freeze on the point cloud? I'd like to replicate. Time spiking meaning the servo thread? Can you share that as well?

Well,  LinuxCNC found the card so it does not seem to be an issue
with the PCIE slot or the 6I25 bus interface.

What is the actual error when you have the 7I77 connected?

Pncconf is a bit confusing because the num columm contains either channel
numbers (1 digit) or GPIO numbers (3 digits). One main thing to remember
is that you don't really need to care about the pin numbers for the main functions.
as the firmware maps these to the proper pins.

With G540 firmware the stepgens for example are mapped in a logical sequence:

0=G540 X
1=G540 Y
2=G540 Z
3=G540 A

So you just use the channel number "NUM" in pncconf to map the stepgens appropriately

Also you can get a list of G540 function  to channel and GPIO pins with:

sudo measflash --device 5i25 --dbname1 g540 --readhmid

hey persei8

i am the guy who messaged on facebook about this

this looks awesome

would be great to set this up on a cnc mill when i get time

cheers

Andrew

You can still use the calculator. The only difference with a THCAD2 and THCAD10/THCAD5 is that it rolls the 2 earlier devices into one and gives you a way to select the full scale range of 10v (THCAD10) or 5 v (THCAD5). So just use the mode that suits your use. Normally you would use a 10 volt full scale for torch voltage

Ive allready tested the last update ...

TP2 and it is working only with simple shapes really well, I did not notice infinity spikes of anything..

no more difficult shaping avaible.. it just froze at cloud of points as G2\G3 transfered to cloud of points .. time spiking increased from last testing

testing only in simulation level ... no real hardware avaible for now

thanks Luca for your job!

I only have according to my machine. One setup is my diy, rotary A axis on table(bed slinger) and tilting head rotation in B axis. XYZAB
This is my DIY setup
youtube.com/shorts/E-yx1akYfMQ?si=7jRvSRYxSsq2Lq3P

Other is regular triunion type, XYZAC

do you have a stl machine model for head/head 4th/5th axis? i need to start testing the head head, i currently have all of the table/table/head/table/table variants working as expected, the last bit is for head/head 4/5 to test and then it will be available

Okay, first step: read through the entire thread.
I know there are a lot of pages, but you’ll find a wealth of information here.
Then, step by step.
First, what’s what:
>>> ethercat.xml
provides the information for the LinuxCNC EtherCAT driver (lcnc) – mappings of the signals and registers of the servos to the pins in LinuxCNC

>>> your config.hal
Calls to the LinuxCNC components and internal connections within LinuxCNC

>>> your config.ini
General configuration

Setup
1. Connect the servos and troubleshoot issues
> dmesg | grep ethercat asl root
There shouldn’t be any errors here; if there are, you have EMC issues

2. List connected devices
> ethercat slaves

3. Create ethercat.xml
Study the existing templates in this thread
If you don’t understand something, just ask

3. Create your config.hal
Here, too, simply use the existing templates.
Most of the time, you won’t need to change much.

4. Create your config.ini
Here, you’ll need to read through the LinuxCNC documentation.
The configuration is specific to your machine’s setup.
Again, make sure to familiarize yourself with the individual parameters.
If you have any questions, we’re happy to help.
But please start a new thread for that.

5. Start LinuxCNC
If there are any errors, you’ll see a message right away.

And importantly, most questions and issues have already been posted and answered in the forum. The forum search will surely answer most of your questions.
If you get stuck, just ask—we’re here to help.

Best regards
