The included sim Gmoccapy configs, include an example setting up a GladeVCP pannel with an RPM meter that interfaces with a simulated encoder. Use that example to make a pannel that interfaces with your spindle's encoder.

Just tested G33.1 = No Go

So I assume that something is missing in my settings, controlled earlier that Index was working so what can it be then?

Stops on this line G33.1 Z-20 K2 and Z axis is not moving.

Try changing the sign of the spindle-encoder scale. (I don't actually know which way it is meant to count for a milling machine)

#********************
# Spindle
#********************
[SPINDLE_9]
P = 0.0
I = 0.0
D = 0.0
FF0 = 1.0
FF1 = 0.0
FF2 = 0.0
BIAS = 0.0
DEADBAND = 0.0
MAX_OUTPUT = 2000.0
ENCODER_SCALE = -4000.0

That is the setting now, negative due to encoder is rotating in reverse compared to spindle ( 1:1 gear shaft )
Will try shortly

It should only need motion.spindle-revs and motion.spindle-enable to be connected.

Do you see motion.spindle-revs increasing by 1 every turn of the spindle in M3 mode and decreasing by 1 in M4 mode?
Does motion.spindle-index-enable go true and then false?

motion.spindle-revs = nothing
motion.spindle-index-enable true stays true and does not go false

This is the 5V encoder that is OK and checked with oscilloscope.

Have you ever had any encoder working?

The one I have in my milling machine now has been working on my lab desk and verified with oscilloscope.

One of my 7i76e has input pins 13/14 = Index pins busted = not working. This is the one for my lathe.

The one in my milling machine is OK, shorting pin 13 and it works, but not now so I just wonder what is going on here.
Earlier tests was OK with setting spindle-index-enable true and rotating spindle it did goe false.

I did go back to basics and teared down the encoder from my Lathe = 5V Omron E6C2-CWZ6C and verified it is working OK.

Done following tests, board #1 is the one for Lathe and has been here in my lab only and board #2 is the one in my milling machine.
New simple pncconf just for this test. num_encoders=1

Board 7i76e #1 with encoder in normal pins on 7i76e = NOTHING, connected 7i85S and moved connector to 1:st encoder = ALL OK

Board 7i76e #2 with encoder in normal pins on 7i76e = NOTHING, connected 7i85S and moved connector to 1:st encoder = ALL OK

So it seems that the faulty encoder has damaged both 7i76e spindle encoder inputs.

As regards board #1 this is for the Lathe looks like encoders can be managed via 7i85S as I only need 3 inputs.

As regards board #2 for the milling machine I need 5 encoder inputs = X/Y/Z/A and Spindle.
So my question is can the spindle encoder be connected to other inputs so I can get this machine ready?

Repair option, maybe Peter can chime in here and advise what part/parts to be exchanged (not afraid to do some SMD soldering).

Not so happy camper now, a bit unbelievable that this is happening with one faulty encoder.

/edit

As my A-axis is a bit far away then I can manage to get me going by setting num_encoders=4 I suppose.

Cheers
Bengt
