That is very similar to the variable speed drive in my lathe. I don't think it is actually variable, but the parts are very similar:

Another speeder with friction design.
The springs force the balls to make contact with the races

Hi! I have one question about AXIS user interface. How i can hide error messages in right down corner of the window? I want AXIS to showing it in console window only, not in main GUI window.

No Idea. I use Gmoccapy. Probably best to ask that question in the AXIS subforum.

Saw your You Tube video about making and using a thread milling tool . Looked very good - both the tool and your filming of it being used.
Hope you consider mentioning the thread milling tool here for other's to see.
What is the latest about the MAHO shifting software update ? Suppect most things are on hold untill Winter. Why is it that it can never be too hot for metal casting ?
Enjoy the summer while you can

Hi Bob,
I posted that thread milling video, but it was a while ago, back on page 88:

Yep, my focus has been on other things over the summer. So far the Rev 2.0 of the gearbox hasn't happened. The next couple weeks I have to replace a balcony door and window, so no love for the machine shop.
The only thing I did lately was to use a friends taper removal wedges to drive off the MT#3 shank from the Tapmatic I bought, and order a 40 taper replacement. Oh, and I did whip up a moulding bench and finish off my sand muller. It works, but is so ugly it'll give you eyeball cancer, so I didn't upload and pictures or videos.
