Nice workmanship John. I am laid up with bronchitis, so I haven't been in the basement. Look forward to spring and getting back to the Maho.

Finally got the last coat of paint on the new control housing, and started assembling it.

Yaa ! you're back . That control housing is looking as if it is a stock Maho made part.
If Reseda Green is the main color on your machine---- what is the name of the other color used as trim ?
Looks like you have the spindle drive motor out. Hope you are still going for LinuxCNC to do the gear changeing .
Glad to see more progress.

I thought that Reseda green was just for test and calibration machines, not production machines.
(Thought that might have been just the standard of one business we used to supply test gear to)

On my machine, the spindle motor and it's control relays are all standard. I am going to use the MAHO gearbox for speed control. It is John who is modifying his with an encoder and VFD, but he is also going to keep the gearbox active for the torque.

Good question what that darker forest green is which MAHO used. I am not a huge fan of Reseda green, but my MH400E is in such good mechanical condition, there is no reason to think about a repaint.

In Germany it seems like there must have been a legal mandate to paint all machine tools green in the 60-70's, as it is the most common color. Earlier machines were often grey or powder blue, while in the 80's they started painting machine tools to match there ski outfits.

Hi Mark, not a legal mandate, but the industrial standard DIN 1844. It has been withdrawn.
