Remora - ethernet NVEM cnc board

In the end, I gave up on trying to drive the spindle via the NVEM card and went with Scott's suggestion of using an USB-to-RS485 adapter to drive the Huanyang VFD.

It's not my preferred solution (otherwise I wouldn't have gone with a NVEM in the first place), but at least it works, and the RPMs i get are surprisingly precise, within 2rpm of the requested value.

Now I have to handle homing and the probe, but those shouldn't be difficult to get right.

Best Regards,
Alberto M.

Hi All,

Im having issues configuring the new NVEM v4 with RT1052. I have the steppers working but cant get any of the IO to work.

If I use remora.output.3 or remora.input.3 within my HAL file the inputs and outputs do not toggle. I did have it working when using STM32 EC500 device.

Am I using the wrong syntax for the IO and should the IO numbers match what is printed on the case?

Any help would be appreciated.

Edit 27/2
Never mind, figured out the IO, but am struggling to get the encoder on the MPG working. Any tips?

If you can see the encoder inputs flicker in the watch window in "Show HAL Configuration", then it is a setup / configuration.

I do seem to remember that I could only jog with the MPG after jogging with the keyboard first. Machine needs to be homed as well.

are these the correct inputs for rt1052 nvem?

net mpg-a encoder.0.phase-A <= remora.input.28
net mpg-b encoder.0.phase-B <= remora.input.27

I cant see where in the code the mpg encoder is  being read.

Thank you for your help and your hard work putting this together.

Cheers

Hello. Anyone using INDEX Input on nvem v2? I have connected 0-5V from vfd to INDEX input nvem. Speed is not shown on the display. Something needs to be changed in HAL. ? Well thank you

Thanks Scott, but thats for the EC300 I understand? Would the NVEM use the same order of pinout?

Sorry, RT1052 based NVEM pinout is as below.

I've just had another look at the RT1052 code and looks to be an issue with the encoder inputs. I'll put the EC300/NVEM back on the bench to test.

The INDEX input is a digital input, normally connected to a spindle sensor. In LinuxCNC the HAL would need to be set-up appropriately as well.

I've just done a bug fix, pushing version 0.0.1 to the Develop branch. I've got NVMPG jogging working on the bench.
