Ah, so there's hope.
I am looking at T450/460/470 with touchscreen as I am planning on putting this on a small lathe with ProbeBasic. Perhaps, the screen will be too small but it should be fine to get me started and I do need a laptop PC for other stuff once in a while.

Screen is full HD, so 1920X1080 pixels, and is still usable for fingering despite the small size.

Another question, maybe not the ideal place for it, but let me give it a shot:)
Found a T470 with a touchscreen, just need seller to confirm a few things before pulling the trigger on it.
[EDIT] Done, I bought it. Will take a few weeks before I get my hands on it though.
Anyhow, I need it to dual boot as I also need Windows for a few things. Especially to run some servo tuning software for Delta and maybe Panasonic. Now, if I need to start messing with turning things off in the BIOS to make the T470 work for LCnc (I am on Mesa cards, so maybe I don't) will that also affect the Windows partition or would that be separate? My paranoia is that somehow, I will be limiting how well the laptop would work in Windows mode. That said, I don't know if servo tuning needs anything particular that BIOS modding could mess with.

Yeah, I think I saw and liked that vid last night as that's when I took another stab at finding a laptop that will hopefully work.
Btw, 1920x1080 is a must for ProbeBasic and Chris is putting a ton of work into the ProbeBasic for lathes these days - especially the conversational is beginning to look amazing!

I'm starting my third LinuxCNC build / conversion.
For my second conversion I used a 5th generation Yoga 15 (i5 and no Ethernet port), however this flavor of Yoga has the Lenovo OneLink connector and I picked up a Lenovo dock that has amongst other things a RJ45 Ethernet port. I'm using a Mesa 7i96 This all works really well. Sometime on first power-up I get a latency error, but never once I'm up and running so from a practical perspective it all works perfectly.
So I thought I would try another Yoga for build #3. This one is a bit newer 8th generation so it does not have the OneLink port but it does have 2 x USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 USB ports. So I now need to find a suitable USB-C dock or Ethernet adapter. I would prefer a doc for all the extra ports but can live with just an Ethernet adapter. I just want to avoid getting one that may not be up to the task of communicating with the Mesa (I will probably get another 7i96s).
Any suggestions for a dock or adapter?

Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 370, Intel Core i7 7600U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVME
-
-TouchScreen as it is laptop/tablet combo,
-no RJ45 connector,
-tested using a USB-A to GigaBit Ethernet adapter
-LinuxCNC 2.10 on Linux Mint 22 with RT kernel 6.10.12, Mesa 7i92 on a production machine,
-No GRUB changes, no isolcpus nor anything else, no BIOS changes
-complaints about latency whenever sound is used, but does not loose or drop connection,
==disabling hyperthreading and Intel AMT gets rid the warnings, but still rarely it does complain
-Plugging power does cause latency warning, but machine continues to work, and uplugging does not.
-isolcpus=3 and =2,3 did not help
-disabling TPM does NOT help much
==disabling SGX and virtualization DOES help a lot,
-no more warnings even playing videos during running of LinuxCNC and doing other stuff,
-did not test youtube as WiFi does not work with this kernel
-no more issues with servo period 1mil at all, except when plugging power

FwIw I have succesfully used a Macbook Air (with Linux installed) and a thunderbolt-to-ethernet adaptor to control a Mesa 7i96.
