7i73 LCD shows rubisch was created by Mike_Eitel
Hi
I upgraded via synaptics to newest master.
Since then my LCD on the 7i67e/7i73 combo puzzels the screen
It is still the correct text but something goes wrong with the positioning.

Before everything was correct.

Ansonsten idea how to get right again?

Unless you need master features, for a production machine I would run the latest 2.7
I don't think there's anyway to backtrack master versions unless you compile from source

Sorry PCW, but until now everything works find with master.
And I like the concept of separation of joints and axes and other new features.

I do not intend to backtrack, but hope this problem will be fixed sooner or later.
In my eyes there is momentary a bug in the lcd component.

Unless you had a pretty old version of master, (older than August 2016)
it is not a lcd issue but rather a sserial issue.

Unless someone with that has the same setup so can duplicate the issue backtracks (via git bisect)
to find the commit that broke this it may not be fixed for quite a while

I have the same problem!
7i73 connected to 7i76e,
i thought it is a hardware problem, but it happened also after an update, so it might well be a modification in the code. The display seems to jump around, like having to much signs for one line and a wrong frequency.

Thx newbynobi
It's in the code you send me. I'm working in that.

As test i modified to just pure four static letters..
All other data from 7i73 are correct, also the 8 outputs i use are send correct..

Hi Norbert

Is your screen also still srambled, or did you find a reason / solution?

Thx

Still the same, IMHO it is a SmartSerial bug, I just disconnected mine until I find time to look at it.

If you're installing debian packages of master from the buildbot, there's a good chance we can discover the "old, working" version number and the "new, broken" version number, which would help us track down and fix the issue. Please post the complete output of this command:
grep 'upgrade linuxcnc' /var/log/dpkg.log

It could be related to this: github.com/LinuxCNC/linuxcnc/commit/d92f...1a785a50d33f8cea32c6
try a version before this commit.
