So i have finally been able to run the linuxcnc on my maho mill. The x and z axis move fluently without any error. The problem is with my y axis. It keeps burning up the wound resistor. I know this is a wrong place to post this question. But are there any indramat 3trm2 doctors here? I'm so close to completing my project. This is the last problem remaining. Yeah, it's some sort of braking resistor i guess. Labeled as 10R1.one more thing, the motors are rated for 170v max. The transformer is rated for 380v and provides 140v output. But i have 420 volts here, thus the transformer provides 160v output. Do you think this might be the reason?

We also have a Maho with the same drive.

Can you check if 7k3 is operating correctly? If I am not mistaken, these resistors are only engaged when estop is active. Under normal operation they do nothing.

But it's been a while since we retrofitted the Maho so I'm not sure

I agree with Henk, the first thing to check is if the contacts on the 7K3 relay are disconnected.
If they are stuck on, the resistor will burn in about 1 to 5 seconds so do not attempt to drive the motor.

Thanks a lot guys, the 7k3 was stuck just a little bit, but now i have completely disconnected the resistor (until new contactor arrives). But the y axis starts to move slowly as soon as i connect it to mesa 7i77.is there anything else that I'm missing out?

If it starts moving when you enable it means that there is something wrong with your control loop.

Verify your position feedback and velocity command signals with linuxcnc.

You can also try to swop the encoder and analog out connectors on the mesa card with the x axis to check if the y then works when jogging the x axis.

So i switched the connections of y with x. Now the y axis(previously x axis) moves smoothly, may need some tuning but seems ok. But the x axis(previously y axis) doesn't move when i connect to 7i77(good thing) but when i jog it in gmoccapy, it kinda spins in opposite direction first and then goes in the commanded direction again (leading to axis 0 following error).

Not sure Im understanding right. What is your conclusion, drive issue or config issue?
