Is this still needed? I was looking at hand-building a package, as it seems that the buildbot can't do it.

To work with a 7i76E you need the uspace version of linuxCNC and a preempt-rt kernel. I suspect that you were previously using RTAI?

Or have you moved on a a 64-bit PC and/or abandoned LinuxCNC?

Thanx for following up on this Andy. I think it makes more sense to get an updated 64 bit PC.

a question though...I will still not be able to just use the LiveCD if I want to use the 7i96E, right? I will have to use the instructions as provided by JT earlier in this thread to install an OS, rt-preempt kernal and uspace LinuxCNC...right?

7i96E?

The liveCD will install 2.8.4 and Debian Buster. That works with the 7i96S or the 7i76E. (In fact the main reason for the 2.8.4 release was to provide 7i96S support)

Duh...my bad...yes, 7i96S is what meant.
I have several projects going and am getting confused. I remember now that 2.8.4 was specifically created to support the 7i96S since its the only one available.
Thanx.
