If still a problem, you could try the 6.1 kernel and it headers I built as a Deb. Some people have found it works for them but its not the complete answer.installing bookworm now... should be good in 2281 packages... /o\ hahahaha

As you can read here, the 6.1 PREEMPT kernel has solved my problems. Since Rods help LinuxCNC 2.9 runs perfectly and without errors under Debian 11 Bullseye.

ok an update,i installed bookworm and rods 6.1 kernel and retested things, results below on the ping time and latency test was run with 10 glx gears, ping test running, and a 1080 hd youtube video playing over wifi... latency used to be much better on the older buster 10 install, latency was around 8k. network is setup static with irq coalesce rx 0 line and i ran the line from tommylights network setup. the ping time is not as good as it was on debian 11 which i posted a few messages back in this thread. i have since rerun the ping test and that first ping result has been inline with the rest of the ping results and not giving that high number, not sure why it has changed though, thoughts?
i am about to do a machine test and see if i get the error message but wanted to post this up to see if anyone had input on how to improve things.
Thanks All!
Chris

Odd that ping times got worse with the 6.1 kernel.
Was the ping times with your latency test running or without?
It would be interesting to see ping times without latency test running
Did you test on the default Bookworm 6.0 kernel?
It will be interesting to see if it errors. The ping results are very consistent. Let us know how the hardware goes.
There is a fairly recent thread here called LATENCY TEST which works through latency options on a 2 core PC.
Disabling apparmor in grub was one thing he did (As well as isolcpus)
BUt really the latency is half what I used to see on working machines with a 7i76e for years.
Other than that all I can suggest is to test with the default Bookworm kernel. You should be able to reboot into it from the grub menu.

It sort of looks like you don't have rx-usecs set to 0
Did you try by setting it by hand?
(if say, ethtool is missing you would not know unless you run the command by hand)

@pcw yes, i got the ethtool mossing and installed it and then ran that line with my network name enp0s25 in place of eth0, it took kt, the results above are with that and with the irq coalesce setting from my previous post.
@rodw i will give it a try
On the bright side, no error has popped up yet

ok, so after a restart, the ping time reverts back to the bad 0.260ms range.. do i have to run that ethtool line each restart? or is there a way to make it permanent?

The command in the interfaces file makes it permanent,
but it looks like you have a typo in your interfaces file:
hardware-irq-coalesce-rx-usec 0
Should be
hardware-irq-coalesce-rx-usecs 0
