6040 7i76 Conversion

OK so when LinuxCNC is _not_ running (but VFD is powered)

What do you measure at:
TB4 PIN 3 (SPIN+)
and TB4 PIN 2 (SPINOUT)
relative to TB4 PIN 1 (SPIN-)?

TB4 PIN3(pin+) -> TB4 PIN2 = 4.98v
TB4 PIN2(spinout) -> TB4 PIN1 (SPIN-) = 0v
TB4 PIN3 -> TB4 PIN1 = 4.98 v

OK, that's the expected output
If you just start LinuxCNC do these change?

no they do not

OK So if you enable the spindle forward (M3) a at say 1/2 of full speed,
what voltage do you get at TB4 pin 2 relative to TB4 pin 3?

With the same settings, what does

halcmd show all | grep spinout

report?

so when G3 S10000 is enabled :

PIN1 -> PIN2 = 2.42
PIN1 -> PIN3 = 4.98
PIN2 -PIN 3 = 2.55

So that's about the expected output (1/2 of full scale)
(note that you can only get to 1/2 scale at 3000 with your current settings)

ok but the spindle isn't actually moving. Is that intentional. Also these are the only three wires I have hooked up between TB4 and the VFD.

It should be running if:

 FWD is asserted (pulled low)
and 5VIN has some voltage other than 0

(and the VFD is working and programmed correctly)
