Hi cpy911

I have a similar problem please let me know if you have overcome this and how you have done it?

Gecko tells me that the G540 has a 7A fuse in it. The four drives of the G540 are all contained in one box and from memory are all plugged onto the break out board.

This certainly is as Rick G says an excellent thread and thanks to both Rick and cncbasher.

I think in the case of unpredictable position loss on G540, the usual fix is a heatsink and/or fan.
I have run 4 3.5a motors on a g540 with a 48volt 7.3amp power supply with no problems for a couple years.

To test out just bring the g540 into open air with a fan blowing on the back of it. Hopefully all your problems go away.

Hi alan_3301 thanks for your reply.

I have, rather than hijack this thread, started another, "XX-axis Gantry negative direction drift"

Cheers
