I have finished with the stepconfg wizard. I started the program. I cannot get the machine to move on any axis.
I have a bed that is 2'x4' if I place a piece to cut in the center I need the router to move to this piece so I can set
the 0 points. I think. The motors make sounds like they are energized but they do not move. I have seen videos
showing people moving their machines to a specific spot to start cutting. When I use the keys I see the image
of the router head moving in the graphics window. All axis move in stepconfg.

Thank You for your patience and indulgences.
Don

PS : I really would like to see this machine move some day LoL

Well you give us little to go by.
like saying to the mechanic 'my car won't start - what's wrong?' :)

Did you test the axes in stepconf?
What did you do in the screen to get started?
What screen are you using?

What I meant by done with stepconfg is that X Y and Z axis all work using jog shuttle button. I can also hit the run button and it runs that axis until I stop it.

I then start the program on my dest top using the machine name I created. The start screen appears to be Axis. It has linuxcnc in the preview window. It says this is not for cutting. I load an nc created in the program using a jpg image. I can get the manual control active. I see the little icon for the spindle moves when I use the arrow keys but the gantry does not move.

I hope this helps and can lead me to what I am doing wrong.

Thank You
Don

The motors make sounds like they are energized but they do not move

This sounds like your acceleration and or velocity is set too high.

Are you sure the configuration you are using is the latest stepconfig created?

see the little icon for the spindle moves when I use the arrow keys but the gantry does not move.

Are the motors here also making noise? When idle are they locked up?

-If they work fine in stepconfig would they change using the program ?-

Are you sure the configuration you are using is the latest stepconfig created?
-This I will need to check. I will look at date created.-

Are the motors here also making noise? When idle are they locked up?
-I will check further and see if the motors are locked or free to turn.-

I just ran the machine again. When I load the NC file an error pops up.
RTAPI: ERROR: unexpected realtime delay on task 1
Run latency test again. I guess the test has me baffled.each time I run
the test I get different numbers. I keep changing them in the box and am
ok until the next time?

When I start the machine program the motors make noise and are locked up until I
hit the e-stop button. Then the motors stop making noise and are no longer locked up.
I load the NC file and get the error message.

When I run the latency test I get numbers at different times from lows of 2000 ns to
highs of 9900 ns.

The computer only runs Linuxcnc. No internet no other programs.

You need to run the latency test for a few hours then up the number by some margin. Remember you will only get the realtime delay error once per session even if you get billions of realtime delays.
