I read and used some of the suggestions at these links.
I now have Servo 7857 Base 5970
Latency test is still running and appears to be holding steady at these numbers.
Are these Ok or should I try for lower.
Thank You
Don

Well I used the new numbers and as soon as I start Linuxcnc I get the error.
No use in going any further. Nothing will work until this error is gone. I feel
I am out of options.
I don't know what to do now and am getting very tired. I am off to the Doctor
for some pains in my side and back. Been loosing a lot of sleep lately.
Of the 2 numbers what should or would you use and enter into stepconfig.
I am using the 5970 base as the number to enter into the box

I would put 10,000 to start. You want to use a number higher than your highest jitter(latency).

I would reduce these values until you get everything working too
MAX_ACCELERATION = 60.0
STEPGEN_MAXACCEL = 75.0
say 30 & 35
set your default velocity at 3
as JT says start with 10,000 as a latency figure
let us know how you get on , lets take one step at a time , the rtapi error has to be addressed first , as everything else depends on it
what is the spec of the motherboard your using , memory etc . is it a standard parrell port or are you using a addon card ?

I used the 10,000 number and seem to have eliminated the error. I need to do some more
testing. I will get back to everyone when I can start Linuxcnc each time with no error.
Thanks
Don

It appears to start now without errors. Now I need to find out why I have no movement.
For cncbasher the motherboard is an ECS model HT 2000 onboard video Geforce 6100.
coupe of gigs of ram. It was running Windows Home server until I installed Linuxcnc.
I will go over what is happening now :
I start CNC no errors. I load an NC file to test. I click the red button. the motors are making a noise
I hit the power button the motors stop making noise and the run pause and home buttons become active.
I home X,Y,Z and hit the run button. No movement out of the gantry. In the viewport window the icon for the
router head is moving and the program seems to be running. If I click the power button everything stops
and the run button and others become inactive but the Steppers power up ? I'm Lost ??
Thank You
PS maybe an enable pin needs to be reversed ??

are you using amplifier enable ? check your enable is not reversed
the motors should be solid if you try to turn the shaft by hand once you press F2 on
are you using a Chinese tb6560 controller ?
if so which one .
if yes then the chance it is an enable problem

"Blue one."
if yes then the chance it is an enable problem
"In Stepconfig there are 4 pins with enable checked. Pin 2 , 4 , 5 and 17 are enabled and checked. I think a check
mark in the box means reverse the action. I have tried a combination of check and not check each enable pin.It
seems like no matter what pin I check or unchecked an axis stops working. I would think 3 pins enabled would
correspond to 3 axis. then I am left with 1 pin. Not so if I uncheck the 4th pin 1 axis stops again.
I will keep pushing pins until something works. Mr.Spock s logic is not working LoL . I think I will need to revisit pinouts
for the board again."
