Help with my "Linxcnc for Dummies" web page. was created by greeder88
Now that I have my actual photo in my posts time to start my "Linuxcnc for Dummies" web page.
My plan is to make a page for people who like cutting across peoples yards to get to where they want to go. Like me
I have semi- finished my first milling machine conversion but have 4 or more R2E4 Bridgeports yet to do so I should eventually boil
all this super complex stuff down to something a bit easier to do. For people like me who don't know what a watt is and with very low attention spans.
What I need help with is checking the information I give to make sure it is correct.
Nothing worse than bad information.
Time to go get me a page...
Stay tuned.
This will take some time and more dumb questions.

Here is a good question:
I finished my tuning using John's tutorial and running almost buttery smooth.
Ready to start cutting a test piece.
Using " Axis" how do I set the programs X-0,Y-0,Z-0? I would have expected a huge button for this but seems well hidden.
Tried TOUCH OFF
Said cannot perform mdi move when not homed.
My A axis is not set up. Is it wanting A to be homed?
If so is there an easier way to handle this without #out ever instance of the A axis?
I am homed on X,Y,Z and I don't want anything to move.

Hi
See
www.linuxcnc.org/docs/html/config/ini_co...tml#sub:AXIS-section
Set HOME , HOME_SEARCH_VEL, HOME_FINAL_VEL and HOME_LATCH_VEL to 0 (zero)
and the axis will be homed without movement automatically
regards

I must have stated my problem wrong.
My problem is in getting all the axis's set to zero in my desired spot so I can start cutting.
I can't start until I get Zero'd in the center of my aluminum block.
Might also have a problem with my 4th axis being configured yet not being hooked up.
Thanks for the attempt anyway.

This means you cannot touch off until all axis are homed.
assuming your X,Y,Z axis are homed this is likely because you
have a A axis enabled but not homed.
ArcEyes suggestion was right-on
If you do not have the A axis fully setup, you can avoid homing it by
setting HOME , HOME_SEARCH_VEL, HOME_FINAL_VEL and
HOME_LATCH_VEL for the A axis to 0
This will make the A axis homed in place so all axis are homed at startup

I see now.
Thanks.
Took me several hours to change my VFD from Japanese to English. Nothing is simple that's for sure.

Normally one sets Y0 to the rear edge of the block and X0 to the left edge of the block and Z0 to the top of the block.

VFD question:
I have a one of the fancy Vector inverter spindle drives and motors.
Getting a PLG error since the encoder is not hooked up.
Found the way to set parameters to bypass the PLG and did it.
Now it is in "Speed VF control".
Says to short circuit between "SD" terminal (Contact Input Common) and one of 3 digital input terminals.
These three terminals say they can do a lot of things but had me set them to 8 in the parameters. Not sure I can do much with them.
My question is what do I have to configure the 7i77 to do for these terminals?
Said "Control Mode Switching" will be assigned to any of these 3 pins.
I just want simpleist motor operation.

perhaps you can provide the manual for the VFD it saves a lot of guessing .
it's usual for the 7i77 to provide the analog input to take place of the variable pot of the vfd
if you can control the vfd as is with a pot , then the 3 connections from the 7i77 just replace it
but if you can give us more information on the vfd you have , we can confirm any settings needed

This is a Mitsubishi Freqrol-V 200
Model- FR-V220E- 3.7k
The pages to look at are pages: 72 , 15, 38 for parameter 17
The manual that came with it is quite a bit different.
However might just be a later updated manual.
Here is the manual link:
Hope this link works. Sure is long.
