Depends on the hal connections, parameter values and commanded spindle speed
These should be easy to trace with halmeter
for example watching the signal vfd-command might be helpful

Due to the extreme difficulty of this project I have to report
that I'm finally cutting chips with the vector drive fully configured and everything
is working perfectly. All 4 axes working great too.
Couldn't have finished this without your help.
When the other 5i25/7i77's arrive I should have no trouble completing
the rest of my conversions in record time using what I've learned.
Thanks again for all your help.
Now I'm off to cutting chips.
Still have to order the ferrite ring.

I just finished the first draft of my web page. This is the page I wish I had when I converted my first Bridgport so hopefully it will help speed others along.
I'm using it to do my other machines so should have any bugs ironed out soon.
Still need fresh pictures but a work in progress.
My page is:
grmolds.com

Nice work!
It's amazing how helpful other people's experiences can be when you're working this stuff out. I personally have found help here on the forum, on John's gnipsel pages, on the emc-users mailing list, and in a couple of pages similar to yours.
By the way, I love your illustrations
I agree that a sort of "dummies" page needed to exist. I think a lot of the developers involved here are unaware just how much smarter and more familiar they are with Linuxcnc than normal humans
Erik

I am actually well aware that my advice has become less useful as I have forgotten which bits are hard. I think it is almost "par for the course", if somewhat unfortunate.
