Try cd /usr/realtime-2.6.32-122-rtai/testsuite/kern/latency/ then ./run and see if there is a periodicity to the high latency values. If it happens at regular (64 seconds, for example) intervals then suspect SMI.

First thing to do to improve latency is turn off _all_ power management/ and speed switching options in the BIOS
Then if your CPU supports hyperthreading, turn it off also

Ah well dont know if that test suit exists on my build.. i used Wheezy in the bottom, installed a realtime kernen from repository then compiled from source.. so for some reason i got 2.8.x something, maybe could be an issue i guess?
Power management is always off - i deactivate all that crap in every puter i own on bios level.. =)
But, why should i turn off hyperthreading, guessing that would help out with calculations - not that a Core i5 processor support hyperthreading, but have 4 cores at least.

Probably not, but you ought to have the equivalent for your kernel.

Not sure why but hyperthreading is a known latency poison, its _always_ better when off
I guess only 2 core I5s have hyperthreading

Ah right, you are talking about the mobile processors like Core i5m - those that use hyperthreading to emulate 4 cores, and are marketed as 4 cores.
