IRC it should be
Libboost-python
??

There is boost and boost-libs. Both are installed. There is no such package called "libboost-python" in Arch Linux / Manjaro standard repos nor in AUR

That is the naming in Debian/Ubuntu/Mint, but aparently it's different in Arch.
Have not used Arch for a long time, but i did try Manjaro a while back, it is quite fast compared to Mint, but lacked some of the stuff i use a lot and since i am always pressed for time, i left it at that. Might have a look again soon.

I always used xubuntu in the past. But then, some applications stopped working as a native install like GIMP. The only way to install the latest Versions were using flatpak (Docker). This was the time I said good by to ubuntu started to use Manjaro.

Anyways, I guess linuxcnc just won't install on Manjaro. O'well.
In the archlinux user repo, the same errors are described as I have:
aur.archlinux.org/packages/linuxcnc/
It does not compile:
ERROR: /home/user/.cache/yay/linuxcnc/ is not a clone of git://github.com/LinuxCNC/linuxcnc.git

OK... so I will just get a dedicated PC then and install the debian weezy based linuxcnc iso. Thanks for all your help.

There is also the stretch version of Linuxcnc in the download area, so give that a try.
And don't get me started on Ubuntu, it has been miss managed to the point of me avoiding it all together!
Good, i miss 10.04 !

yeah! 10.04! agree! was one of the best releases.
OK, I will try the linuxcnc Strech version too.

One more question: Since linuxcnc-sim compiles and runs great with Manjaro, can it be used to run a real hardware as well (maybe by changing a flag somewhere or adding something) or is it strictly for simulation only without any machine support (parallel port) at all ?

Try to start the parallel port configs included, sheerline or similar, if it works you can use it.
The userspace version should work.

OK, I just turned on my machine and ran the linuxCNC example edging, just to see what happens. Worked like charm! My Chinese Parallel Port Router is running. So Linuxcnc-sim, compiled under Manjaro actually runs the hardware! I am using the Linux 5.0.21_rt16-1 Realtime Kernel.

Hi all.
I have try the Manjaro Linuxcnc package but anyone work....
some package compile but failed at start with
message :

can't find package Linuxcnc
while executing
"package require Linuxcnc "
(file "/usr/share/linuxcnc/hallib/check_config.tcl" line 141)
check_config validation failed

the Linuxcnc Sim version package compile but failed at start time too..

So i have try to build from github version 2.8.2..and failed too..

i have not add the modbus and have to set non-distributable option

./configure --enable-non-distributable=yes --with-boost-python=boost_python310 --without-libmodbus

And I have a problem with yapps so I have to install the python2-yapps2 2.2.0-1 manjaro AUR package
And install the python yapps "pipx install yapps"
the boost python 1.78.0-1 and boost-libs 1.78.0-1
intltool 0.51.0-6
classicladder 0.9.113-1
bwidget 1.9.14-2 aur package
tclx 8.4.4-4
tkimg 1.4.13

And if i don't manually have set the boost python the configure failed..
But even if configure goes good when i make it the build failed in classicladder so i stop and try with the master branch..

When i have try the Master Branch the configure work very easy and the Build is ok.. and Linuxcnc start with the Axis frontend...so i am very very happy.

To have libmodbus i have install the manjaro package libmodbus 3.1.6-1
And the standard commands..
./configure --enable-non-distributable=yes
And now the make clean and make -j40 works without any errors so the build finish ok in
29 Seconds ..very very nice..

After this I have the compiled of 2.9.0~pre0 ok and i start it with ../script/linuxcnc this run i think very good.. I will see after some use's..

Now i will be happy to have Nativecam to run on it ..

I have done another try to have the 2.8.2 build ok but failed on classicladder..
I have install a RTpreempt kernel.. and now try with configure with specify the python27 this work best on manjaro

./configure --with-realtime=uspace --enable-non-distributable=yes --with-boost-python=python27 --with-python=python2

but when make give error
make: *** [hal/classicladder/Submakefile:49 : ../bin/classicladder] Erreur 1

And this is curious because with the devel version 2.9 any problem on this ??

If Manjaro is a rolling release and is currently using the 5.15 kernelĀ  I really think you are wasting your time trying to build v2.8 on that platform. V2.9 would have a much higher chance of building.
