Ran Fsck and got the following message,

plasma@plasma:~/linuxcnc-plasmac$ fsck
fsck from util-linux 2.29.2
e2fsck 1.43.4 (31-Jan-2017)
/dev/sda2 is mounted.

WARNING!!! The filesystem is mounted. If you continue you ***WILL***
cause ***SEVERE*** filesystem damage.

Do you really want to continue<n>? no
check aborted.

I did have some drama installing the OS with having to stuff around partitioning the drives and mounting them.

[88288.356358] intel_powerclamp: Start idle injection to reduce power
[88292.357979] intel_powerclamp: Stop forced idle injection

Looks like you have some kind of power management still enabled
This may indicate that your CPU is overheating, or if you dont have a heatsink/fan
issue that you need to disable power management

(you can check your CPU temperature with "sensors")

Clutching at straws, but it says you have a removable USB disk installed. Maybe remove it and reboot. That message I saw may have been to do with it.

If this just started happening it might be as simple as a stuck fan

On your old machine, are you missing the plastic duct that goes from the fan to the CPU cooler? (its missing in the picture)
