ok thanks..so then my next question is how do I increase the actual speed/velocity of my machine? in stepconfig it has a theoretical velocity of say 42...but anything above say 21 has no effect?

Is everyting nice and stable, repetitive until 21 now?

Check for the max velocity in the ini files.
There are several.
Velocity is limited by you max attainable stepnrate also

most likly
[TRAJ]
MAX_LINEAR_VELOCITY = 21
DONT forget to get the StepGEN_ACC to a Recent settings
you want good Acceleration not reatching the Top speed at 10mm Cut Distance

I did try edit this and it was like 21.374884 (but all it seemed to do is up the theoretical velocity..ie I can select higher speed when testimg axis,but it doesnt actually go any higher..ie from 21 to 40 is the same speed.)
so the velocity is obviously a result of an equation? do you know what the equation is? or what stepconfig does to work that out?

yeah i tried editing that..but like i said in my reply to Leon82 editing that only seems to give me theoretical increase..it is still limited to 21.blah blah(i cant remember what the actual numbers are.)

There are entries for max_velocity in the Display, Traj, and each axis sections.

When testing an axis in stepconf it won't let you go higher than the steprate it has determined by your settings.
You would have to lower the drive timings, which could introduce following errors
