One more question: How do I get the 2nd motor on the gantry to work? I added it as the Y2 driver but it did not come up to tune. I have everything in pieces at the moment since I am trying to get things moved out to the shop so it will be a minute before I can test anything. I do have the PC inside still so I can change settings to be prepared to test later. Once I get it all out in the shed I plan to have all of the motors disconnected from the screws and run the motors to make sure they are all working as they should.

Have a search on the forum, there are several configs using 7i96 and 2 motors on the same axis, compare them to yours.

I finally got it working with Debian Stretch and LinuxCNC 2.9. I used pncconf and the tandem axis option for my second Y motor. Thanks for everyone's help. I will be talking to you as soon as I get the motors mounted and get my router going.

I believe I have the same setup mentioned here. Do I need a fan?

I have a 5v 1.0 A samsung phone charger I was going to use to power the board.

I have this power supply, ALITOVE 36V 10A 360W Power Supply Switch Transformer Adapter AC 110V / 220V to DC 36V 10amp Universal Regulated Switching Converter for LED Strip Light CCTV Camera Security System with 3 36v outputs.

and three of these: STEPPERONLINE CNC Stepper Motor Driver 1.0-4.2A 20-50VDC 1/128 Micro-step Resolutions for Nema 17 and 23 Stepper Motor

I think with that I can drive 3 motors and the board. I am not sure about driving a fan though. How much heat do the motor drivers make when they are powered up?
