Not sure what you mean by mixed mode but, yes, the 10 stepgen signals on the 7I76E are FPGA signals with translation (buffering) to high current 5V outputs.
The parallel expansion ports are full compatible with standard parallel port BOBs
(they are pinout compatible and have 5V tolerant I/O)

Now i understand that on my 7i76e i must have W5 up = 5 V tolerant.
And mixed mode i understand in a way that u use some free pins, not used for stepper or encoder, via a serial protokol to comunicate with a 7i76 to the rest of io's
I think such a 7i76e & 7i76 plus a 7i37 is very interesting combo!

Yes, there is a local (on card) sserial channel on the 7I76E
that communicates with the isolated field I/O section

Hello,
i just want to inform you guys that my 7i76e is working again perfectly.
Both ICs got replaced.
Both broken ICs had a small hole on the top.
