How do I obtain the 'name-of-patch-file' file?
Do I cut and past the script into Geany and save it under any file name with .patch extension, or is there actually a file to download or link to ?

You should be able to "save as" direct from the web browser.

It's probably worth reading this: www.thegeekstuff.com/2014/12/patch-command-examples/
(especially the dry-run option)

The two things that can go wrong are
1) Not being in the same place in the source tree as the patch was created, as the paths are relative. the p<number> option controls this.
2) Not having exactly the same source files as the patch was created against. The patch command can deal with this to an extent, and this can be tweaked with the -F option.

i ask myself the same question. my lathe is getting ready now.

runs with LCNC 2.8.2 Gmoccapy and the lathe macros from andy.

g71 and g72 would really be a great added value.
I only have the home user version fusion360, I often make cylinder heads for two-stroke engines. (the combustion chamber)
Would rather write the gcode myself instead of setting up fusion.

How stable is buidbot 2.9?
Don't want to break my working setup.

will the macros work under 2.9

or, is it predicteble when 2.9 will be released normally?

Fairly stable.

will the macros work under 2.9

From my testing last night, no they don't. This is a GTK3 issue that I have not managed to get to for over a year.

thanks andy .
so I stay with 2.8.2, I do not want to lose the macros in any case.
They are too useful.

I'll try to set up fusion 360.

I upgraded to 2.9 for the use of the G71 cycles and had a real hard time. It really wasn't worth the trouble, so I had to revert back to 2.8.2

What problems did you have? Was it general Linux problems or specific G71 problems?

It's quite a while back now, so I don't remember exactly, but there where many issue with missing packages and a lot of manual work in order to get it to install correctly. After that the main issue was that the GUI woudn't re-size to match my monitor size and the menus were off the screen. I started a thread on this issu but got no where with it, so I abandoned it.

Which GUI? And which screen size? Axis doesn't fit on 800x600 (I just tried) but seems OK on 1024x768.

It was GMOCCAPY. I started a thread on this issue, but got nowhere so I abandoned it a long time ago .
