Limit/Home switches not recognized was created by Jalapeno56
I cannot seem to get my PNP switches to be recognized by Linuxcnc, and not showing up in Halshow. Trying to use these proximity switches as limit/home. The steppers hit the switches and continue trying to move. Only working on X and X2 axis for now to figure out the problem, no axis' are currently working for limits/home.
Running Debian 11 5.10.0-11-rt-amd64
Linuxcnc 2.9
Mesa 7I76E
Connections are as follows:
PNP - to power supply -
PNP + to power supply + (24v)
PNP switch to 7I76e TB6 pin 08 for X2 and pin 09 for X
Switches are functional as verified by VOM at corresponding 7I76 terminals.
I have set the values in pncconf addressed on 008 and 009 I/O (inversed) respectively anywhere from limit/home (min or max) to limit only, nothing works. It seems as though there is a disconnect between the board and linuxcnc.
hal and ini files attached.
Any help is much appeciated!

This video I did may help
By the sound of it, you have wired up correctly.
Does the LED change state on the prox sensor wen triggered?
Can you see +24v on the output wire with a multimeter when triggered?
Have you confirmed in halshow that the pin you have connected to is changing state?
Only then are you ready to connect the mesa pin to the home switch for the relevant joint
I can't stress enough how important it is to take a step by step approach. Jump ahead and you can get burnt.
Also read the homing configuration chapter of the docs. It is mandatory that a home switch must stay triggered all the way to end of travel.

Halshow does not show that anything is there....

And I have watched that video of yours, 3 times actually! It is very informative. I have been researching and troubleshooting 1 step at a time since Nov. 17th. (I am a noobie) Many learning experiences and im sure many more to come. I usually only ask a question after ive spent at least week researching. problem is making sure i have the right info for the OS and Linuxcnc versions i have!

My guess is that you are looking at the wrong mesa pin in halshow, Display more pins and see what changes..
Glad you found the video helpful

Also with the prox sensor connected to the mesa input, confirm it is seeing 24 volts with a multimeter

I have 24v coming from the switch confirmed with VOM, the switches are working properly.
How do I show more pins in Halshow? I have only been able to see with= machine - show hal configuration - signals - x (x2) is homed or limits depending on how i set up pncconf. To be able to specify pins in halshow would be awesome!

You select show hal configuration from the axis gui menus.
Select the watch tab and click on any pin in the tree and it will be displayed.
I thought you used it to look at the home switch inputs.
You need to look at the 7i76e pins now.

OK, I finally found the pins in halshow and set 008 in, in-not and out (same with 009) neither one show a change when switches are activated. Same result i get when looking at signals in halshow.

Are you using "watch"?
"show" doesn't display changes, only that status of the pin when first selected
