I had bought and installed a parallel board (no drivers) and was able to set up and use linuxcnc wizard no problems.
What do you mean by installed? Pushed into the PCI/e slot or?
Were you able to test the card using Stepconf with the BOB attached to a stepper motor and driver?

Not familiar with "stepconfig" Is that a terminal command? I can hook up the rest.
Where do I find the kernel greater than 4.xxx?
Maybe I should reinstall the whole system if there is a version that will cover all of this.
Thanks all for your help.

There might be newer kernel backports for Wheezy but you can just upgrade to Buster
www.linuxcnc.org/downloads/ with all 5.x kernels

What are you referring to here? Why do you think that by upgrading to Buster and 5.x kernels would have an effect on realtime?Im not sure what giving up some realtime performance equates to
