Does the 5i25 say that it has 7i76 firmware installed (on a sticker)

The sticker says "configuration: 7i76x2.BIT".

The sticker says "configuration: 7i76x2.BIT".

With 12 encoders and no stepgens it looks a lot more like a 7i77x2 to me.

Have you changed the firmware on a 5i25 before, or would you like some instructions?

Instructions please! I don't know what I'm doing. I really want to learn lcnc fully, but my at-home business has me working 12 hours a day/7 days a week. That's why I have asked some ignorant questions. I haven't had time to dive into the documentation.

Basic instructions here:
linuxcnc.org/hardy/lucid/index.php/itali...ectly?start=20#35216

Just ask if there are any problems.

If we sent a mis-programmed 5I25 I apologize.

We just went through all of our 7I76 kits and did not find
any mis-programmed 5I25s, but it is possible because,
initial loopback testing is done with a 7I77 configuration
so if a card somehow missed re-programming,
it would have a 7I77x2 config.

I will look into our test procedures to see what can be done
to prevent this from happening in the future.

No worries. New firmware has LinuxCNC starting correctly.

It's the curse of the Supermax!! Everything that can go wrong with that machine, does. And when I say everything - It's everything, really. Something massively goes wrong when it will cause the most problems. The last failure was the final straw, which is why I ordered the MESA cards and 3 new 203V drivers for this machine. However, the machine has a reputation to maintain, so upon first power up, it blew one of the new driver's fuses. The machine currently has a switched power supply for each motor. I believe it exposed the drive to excessive voltage before it limited its duty cycle. I've now added 1/2 farad capacitors inline. The power supplies will replaced with a single Toroidal PS. In the meantime, I'm waiting on overnighted fuses from Digikey....$54.17 to overnight some fuses. So, firmware is no problem.

i'd have sent that machine to hell by now ! .
i try not to use switched mode power supply in machines, or failing that a good isolation transformer , failing all else it helps to balance the input , when all the contactors start pulling in
