Im an idiot. A friend told me what boards to get, I didn't realize that the 7i76E was meant to connect only with eithernet and hooked it up like a 7i76. now i will have to hook it up through eithernet and figure out how to configure the connection, or get a 7i76. If i use eithernet hook up then i loose the internet connection. next question is, can the 7i77 and 7i76E run together?

Thought you have been talking about a 6I25 +7I77_7I76
A 7I76E is an Ethernet connected card unrelated to a 6I25

Yes, there is 7I76E firmware to run with an attached 7I77
You can run a LinuxCNC real time Ethernet connection using the motherboard
Ethernet and just ad a USB WIFI or Ethernet dongle for internet access.

i had already ordered the 7i76 before i seen this response. it will likely take 2 or more weeks to get it so i will probably try to figure out how to connect and load firmware while waiting.

If it was ordered from Mesa and not shipped yet, we can cancel the order if you wish

Ok. I wasn't able to do anything with this yesterday, had to work on site. I now have connected the 7i76e through eithernet and can ping it. but now i have no idea how to do a pnc.config as it doesnt give an eithernet option, only pci and parallel options. I am still running the 7i77 and 7i64 through the 6i25 but trying to run the 7i76e through eithernet. is this wrong should i connect the 7i77 and 7i64 to the 7i76e and run it all on eithernet? either way i need to know how to make a hal file to connect to the 7i76e,

Pncconf can setup a Ethernet connected 7I76E but I don't think it can setup a 7I77
daughters card attached to a 7I76E.
You could use a 5i25 /7i76/7i77 configuration and edit the hal file to change the driver
command line from hm2_pci to hm2_eth, add the ip address in the driver
command line, and change the card name from 5i25 to 7i76e in the ini file

would i have to reflash the 6i25 for the 5i25-7i76/7i77 configuration?
