Please forgive me, I am trying to grasp the flow of signal input to signal output to drive output, I think I have not assimilated the terminology enough to be fluent and properly express myself, as well as comprehend your helpful ideas. I wave wired my machine precicely as this diagram shows, which is direct from Kelings website. With the exception of course that the steppers are wired for bipolar parallel, and then connected to the wires from the drivers. Because I have checked and double checked my wiring I feel It must be a jumper problem, or something I am doing wrong with the software. I will try re-enabling the the E-stops as well, I checked thier continuity and they are properly NC

com should be set on the bob for +5v
( com jumper pins 2 -3 on the bob )
and then connect C10 to the pulse + and dir + connections as this
pin 2 (x axis step) is connected to step pulse -
pin 3 ( x axis dir ) is connected to dir -
on the stepper driver

and you will need to have the EN pin connected to 5v also
as this internaly enables the output of the bob only ( wire jumper is fine here )

leave the stepper drive enable opto's totaly disconnected
they are not needed for operation , and can be optional in use
later down the line

the C10 is a product of cnc4pc.com
so much information is also available there

so, CNCbasher has helped me quite a bit. Unfortunetly our timezones are pretty far apart. I believe we have the problem narrowed down to communication between computer and bob. Are there any instances where linuxcnc2.5 will not send pulse signals?

thats usual down to a broken kernel , especialy if you have allowed ubuntu to update any part of the kernel , although you are resonably ok updating programs .
the other is of course a broken parallell port .

and make sure your parallell port cable is 25 pins wired 1 :1 and not one of the cheaper cables as they do not always have all the wires
also it's easy if making your own cables to cross the wires when making the plugs

start with a clean install from the cd and do not run update to start with
check the logs for any signs of something not running

run dmesg from a terminal and see if it mentions any rtai errors , if so this usualy means the kernel is damaged
