See how you have "names=spindle.lowpass" and then the error is "lowpass.spindle.gain, pin not found"

It's my fault, I think, but the fix seems fairly easy.

Ok have have changed it to names=lowpass.spindle.gain and still the same error

Hmm, comment out that line, then start LinuxCNC
Then open a terminal and type
halcmd -kf
show pin lowpass*
exit

Thanks for your patience Andy but commenting it out does not let me start LinuxCNC. Tomorrow I will start from scratch with the lathe config and generate a new one. with PnCConf and start again.

Starting from scratch isn't the way, this shouldn't be this difficult.
(And, to an extent, learning what these errors mean and how to fix them is useful)
What error do you get if you comment out the offending line?

Ok Andy that is helpful I will report back tomorrow with the degbug msg I know there are bugs in PnCConf shall I re submit my hal file as well?
