So the default mode will install LCNC on the HDD or go with the live version running from the bootable USB ?

DO NOT SELECT OEM INSTALL
ALLOW IT TO BOOT INTO THE DEFAULT CHOICE AS SHOWN IN MY PREVIOUS POST, THE HIGHLIGHTED ONE
The default selection will work.
OEM install is for Manufacturers of systems and not for a "normal user" install.
I wonder in the OEM item should be removed to prevent this from happening.
So the default mode will install LCNC on the HDD or go with the live version running from the bootable USB ?

The default selection will boot the live desktop and there is an icon on the desktop to install.
You can use the live desktop to test the latency of a pc run a few sims without installing.
Unless you know what you are doing the best option, on a clean HDD, is to let the installer create the partitions.
If you are still unsure about the install process you can use google to look for howtos on installing Linux Mint as the installer is unmodified. Actually apart from the kernel, linuxcnc, the desktop items pointing to the readme, the forums, github and to install the dev packages (only if you want to rebuild linuxcnc) and the addition of gFTP, geany and midnight commander it is a standard Mint 19.2 ISO.
