For x86 computers with parallel ports, you can connect the spindle encoder to the parallel port. I have a pcie to dual parallel port card that can provide 34 io

This machine uses an Odroad H2+ (now H3 and H3+). I have used a few of them as you end up with a full AMD64 PC

Odd, it works for me CATIO-A

Do you have the vendor data from the ESI....I don't think most of that AliExpress stuff is legit.

Now I use the rv901 fpga card with six encoder inputs and more than a dozen input and output

Pretty decent looking set-up! Lucky you. I'd move the CAT6 lead far away from the magnetic IC though. Currently sitting right on top of it, a big no-no!!

No, I have no idea what an ESI is.  It would be pretty hard to clone an Ethercat chip. The license is embedded into the chip so they just need to buy the right chip.

Did anyone have any luck configuring one of these? I followed the links on the first page to get the slave information, but mine seems to be stubbornly returning to PREOP E. here's my slave information so far:

    <!--IMC IO MODEL with EtherCAT-->
