Any other driver board choice except mesa board?

Category: Driver Boards

No, these USB to parallel adapters do not work properly as a stepper output.
You can get PCI or PCIe parallel port cards to plug into your PC motherboard.
There is also the Pico Systems universal stepper controller board (my product)..

I have exact the same problem with this drive.

Tried:
ethercat state -p0 PREOP -> drive shows 20ry, 2 is flashing
ethercat state -p0 INIT -> drive shows 10ry
ethercat state -p0 SAFEOP -> drive shows 20ry, 2 is flashing
ethercat state -p0 OP -> drive shows 20ry, 2 is flashing

Linuxcnc startup:
20ry
Switch machine on
40ry
10s later
F0ry and log shows safeop+error

Log Shows:
+3,998716] EtherCAT WARNING 0-0: Slave did not sync after 5000 ms.
[  +5,004000] EtherCAT ERROR 0-0: Timeout while setting state OP.

Hi Chris
Have you looked at the files I sent?
I don't know if you were thinking about this arrangement or should I do something differently?

Can not get stepper motors to move with Gecko g250x drivers

Category: PnCConf Wizard

It means the step pulses are being generated and the drive is not responding
maybe enable related?

I would also check setting hm2_7i96s.0.stepgen.00.step.invert_output true
and seeing if that gives you a bright LED on TB1 Pin 3

I would change the 5V power supply first, find a good one, preferably MeanWell or Delta or FSP or ... older Samsung mobile chargers, original ones only.

Alright I can check on the weekend. If I remember correctly when starting LCNC the diplay went from 20ry (preop?) to 40ry (safeop?) to 4hry after about 10 sec (safeop + error). When exiting it went back to 20ry.

Did you have to do some special configuration on the driver end?

if I use a standard example file, e.g. When I open “axis” in LinuxCNC, nothing happens.

When I open the STONEBITE AXIS file, which I created with PNCconf, there is no error at first and after about 30 seconds the same error always occurs.

Mesa 7i92 Installation, considering old ATX psu for I/O voltage source...

Category: Driver Boards

Meanwell supplies will be fine, been using them for years.

I power mine together, actually I think mine are powered directly from the 7i92.

The Mesa I/O are pretty hardy and have no issues using them directly.

No need to worry about card drivers these, pretty much everything is handled via the hostmot2 driver & the hm2_eth driver, which are loaded via hal. Config is done when loading the hostmot2 driver.

Once the hardware side is setup, load the required firmware via mesaflash and then you can almost forget about mesaflash. The rest is getting the ini & hal files done. This is a mix of using the config program of your choice and editing by hand.
