I have used a QStackedWidget before but not in this project and yes you need to code the buttons to change pages. I'm assuming you have a small monitor and the tabs from a QTabWidget take up too much space?

One solution would be to put those lines in a subroutine and insert the subroutine call into F-engrave.

ok find the file qt_pstat.py

change the line to:

# Force the log level for this module
LOG.setLevel(logger.VERBOSE) # One of DEBUG, INFO, WARNING, ERROR, CRITICAL

and try again - should print more info to the terminal.

Arduino IO Expansion

The MCP23017 is for inputs OR outputs. In the keypad example it is independently controlling the LEDs inside of the pushbuttons.

Like I said it has almost nothing to do with a keypad, this is just IO, it could be anything so I have no specific use for keypad encoders.

You can see there I'm using 4 16bit IO expanders, that's 64 extra IO from a single I2C port. These use 3 address pins so you could be using 8 of them on 1 I2C port. I already made this so I don't have any use for some other type of hardware plus that is not useful to other people.

The code will eventually get stuffed in there, even if I have to fork it and bribe a friend to do it.

Resolution and speed with servo motor

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Hello guys,
I have a rpi5 + parralel port rpi hat + 5 axis cnc interface adapter and  asdab2 servo driver

my hal file
steplen 1
stepspace 0
dirhold and dirsetup 60000
scale is 20 (1 motor rotation = 10 mm = 200 pulse)

max velocity is 30000 mm/min is equal 500 in ini file

the problem is in scale and speed
if i make jog speed to 30000 servo graphic is in attachments
when i increase the "scale" speed is going down and sometimes linuxcnc has following 0 error
for example scale is 20 and 15000mm/min speed i take

if i decrase the "scale" for example 8 speed is going to high but i think resolution is not enough

i tried to change steplen, stepspace, maxaccel etc but nothing changed. generally program give me following error

and also one thing pid is not in my hal and ini file

Or for inputs you could use one of those USB arcade boards which appear as a HID, whether you are going to use the arduino or HID device, it's all going to filter its way through the USB stack.

You may have to look through the config.txt and see if the audio is enabled. The file is not in the same place as the Raspbian OS, still somewhere in a directory under boot. The RPi docs regarding config.txt are still valid as as source of info.

Generally I disable audio on my cnc machines.

Thanks cmorley for responding,
I was under the impression the sserial was capable of having multiple nodes, a bit like rs485, i am going to need to connect 6 axes.
I will keep hoping and trying.

Did you think about using a 74c923, 4x5 matrix decoder, requires 5 pins for data, one for data available pin and one, if required for data output enable. Could make PCB layout easier, that's if you are looking for a 1 of 20 key input. If you're just looking for multiple inputs to be on at the same time maybe not so useful......although the key could be "latched" via software.

The 74c922 can be expanded to a 32 input setup.

I bought about 10 of them off aliexpress a while back and haven't had any failures.

it's been a good little tool for odds and ends. i have mostly used it for guards and covers. i had a thought about thread inserts and have seen the brass ones you heat and press into your parts but thought you might be able to infill around your holes and run a tap into it then use a Heli coil insert. the cheap one's work just as good as the Heli coil brand. i thought it might be a little more cost effective than the ones you press in with heat.

i might try this out on a housing for the THCAD so I can mount it to the plasma cutter when i get that far :)

Raspi5 + VH229 no HDMI0 audio

Hi Guys new here, I have installed the Ethercat image following the guide from RodW on a Raspi5 + VH229. All worked out but a monitor on HDMI0 don't give me audio out. I can see graphically the audio mixer gives me a dummy output and if I select hardware outputs there are no one. Toughts?

OK I think that's beating a dead horse now, hopefully a mod will just wipe out the last 10 posts or so.....

Anyway I posted this as an issue on the Git repo of this....

I'm pretty bad with "code" so it'll take me all day to probably get nowhere but when I first started messing with Arduino Connector I whipped up a couple of different BOBs and first used it with a matrix style key pad I made. My friend added some code to AC that made it work correctly but I wasn't thrilled about the scanning/pulsing LEDs. So I went back and made the keypad out of I2C IO expanders. These are really just I2C inputs and outputs, nothing specific to a keypad. I built the keypad but dropped this cuz of the lag issues.

Now that I'm sort of picking it back up (hopefully the lag is resolved) I actually got to testing the keypad and it does work with a basic test sketch. Ideally it would be nice if I2C IO were added as a different input type to Arduino connector but just as basic inputs/outputs.If anyone wants to make an attempt, this is an example of working I2C IO and the schematic for my keypad. Seems like an easy thing if you know what you're doing.....unfortunately I don't. I'm testing this with an Arduino Mega but the I2C keypad was actually made for a Teensy 4.1 which is a hell of alot faster but has much less IO
