So say my servos are 2400 RPM @10V with 2/1 reduction and 5 tpi ball screws, would that be the basic formula used to come up with velocity in IPS?

That is the hal for the 6i25/5i25 so why are you using the other one made for parallel port?

That's a normal 7I76x2 configuration

I'll check the firmware

Did you power cycle the PC after loading the firmware?

I deleted the set spindle-at-speed from HAL file and it loaded, but there is no spindle control in GUI and it reads no paport registered at 0xe030 in corner. I wasn't able to resolve spindle speed issue by editing the HAL.

There is no communication between computer and CNC as when I jog, the machine isn't moving. The 7I76 card has it's 2 yellow power indicator lights lit. There is no green blinking or red fault light on the card.

I have posted the INI and HAL files.

Connecting Mesa 7i76 to Sprint 1200 DC Controller

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Do you have some documentation on the Sprint 1200 connections?
Just knowing the names is not enough to know how to connect them.

Connecting Mesa 7i76 to Sprint 1200 DC Controller

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Good evening.  I am not sure if this is the right area to ask this question, but here goes.  I am converting a Novaturn lathe that has a Sprint 1200 (400) DC motor controller and I am using a Mesa 7i76U to handle the connections.  I have the steppers moving properly, the e stop and limits working properly but am very apprehensive about connecting to the Sprint 1200 because I dont want to damage anything.  Anyway, after days of reading, testing, and more reading I am finally reaching out for help.  Does anyone know the correct wiring to connect the 7i76 (TB4) spindle connectors to the appropriate Sprint connectors?  I need to be able to turn the motor on, adjust speed, etc.  The motor does not reverse.  The contacts on the Sprint are (1) +10, (2) MIN, (3) I/P, 4 COM, (5) RUN, (6) TACH, (7) COM.  Any guidance would be appreciated.

How to build a CNC Router?

Category: Milling Machines

Technically that's more router type machine, mills are big heavy monsters made of cast iron. ;)

Yeah I have both, the little 3 axis desktop thingy is good for testing concepts and moving around.
The mill stays put in the garage, mind it's only a little 120kg thingy.

EtherCAT Closed-Loop Drive Options for Lathe

Yes, its an old XZ lathe, a Maximat Standard. Quite comparable to the Myford ML7 actually.
Similarly to the ML7, the cross slide (trapezoidal) screw moves with the cross slide, with the nut mounted on the carriage. That limits the motor mounting a bit, as I would like to keep it simple. But if I limit this motor to Nema 17, I have a solution that works well.

Linear encoder feedback is actually on the wishlist as well, not only for CNC operation but also as a DRO when running it manually. I'd first like to get it set up with just motors with feedback though. If I get around to it, I'd also like to implement the linear encoder readout via EtherCAT if possible, as it seems like the most elegant solution when already using EtherCAT. The controller would neeed to run in LCNC on the computer in that case, which leads to a similar question as in the original post.

Fix the error that says signal not found, 9 times out of 10 it's a typo in either of your hal files, can't say much else without you posting the ini and hal files.

PCIe - No parport registered at "0x " . This is not Always an error.Continuing.

Category: Advanced Configuration

No need to guess,
sudo cat /proc/ioports
Then look for the an entry mentioning a parallel port, it's been mentioned a number of times throughout the thread

correspondence of unused i/o pins to physical connector location?

For future reference, is this also true of the P1 inputs -- are they also locked as inputs, assuming the default firmware?
