scotta thank you,I'll try to understand, I see that you explained the initial steps in a nice and photos way, so I'll see how far I'll go..thanks

Remora - Rpi Software Stepping Using External Microcontroller via SPI

Category: Computers and Hardware

Getting back to the topic of Remora SPI, I have pushed some updates to the repo to give command line options to specify the SPI number, CS number and frequency of the SPI interface for the RPi 5.

loadrt remora-spi SPI_num=0 CS_num=0 SPI_freq=20000000

Default frequency is 20Mhz, which is happily running on my Octopus, with Cakeslob's latest compiled firmware, without communication errors.

We'll need to update all the firmware to the latest. Thanks for your patience, but if there is a priority please let us know.

Best to start with
www.forum.linuxcnc.org/18-computer/44828...c300-ec500-cnc-board

The board you have is an STM based board, which was the first Ethernet board to be supported. So the early part of the above thread covers the development and firmware installation stuff.

Greetings,
I have two nvem cards, I can't read all 80 pages of the post related to the implementation on linuxcnc, can you explain step by step the procedures of a short way to implement them on linuxcnc, in the shortest possible terms for those of us who have very little knowledge about programming. thank you

@CObra
thank you for your answer.
With help from the NUM support the NUM 1040 controller is now working again and i will not change to LinuxCNC at this machine.

If anybody have problems with this NUM controller:
This NUM 10x0 Controllers have a problem that they sometimes lose files (some machines every year some never in 30 years). If you have a backup (you can get one from SCM) a NUM technican can get your controller working in one hour and he will shows you what to do next time. But he must be in from of the machine because it is not so easy the get the connection.

Good thought.  I'll check tonight - I sort of made an assumption that the previous owner checked that, but that's probably not a safe assumption.

I checked the jumpers, they were all set to Low (default)  I set the jumper to high and it didn’t make any difference.

There are no red lights, just green and amber.

I was told by the previous owner that half of two of the 7i40s don’t work.  This joint is on the working half of one if those cards.  I’m wondering if there might be more wrong with that card than I originally thought.

The next test I guess is to swap two joints.

Do you get overcurrents on the 7I40 (red LEDs blinking)?
Also are the 7I40 current limits set to the high range?

I attached a digital angle finder to the axes, moved it a specific amount (45 degrees), calculated how many encoder steps were read, divided by the number of degrees and entered that number into the joint config in the ini under encoder scale.   The numbers I entered were only a couple encoder ticks off from what was already there.

Is there some other spot to enter the encoder resolution/scale/ppr?

I am unable to find any documentation whatsoever on the specs for the encoders: Tamagawa TS1902N117 or TS3083

I am also considering swapping 2 of the joint connections to see if the issue follows the daughtercard.

Good point.. I've set all of the axes to 9.5 but it didn't resolve my issue.

You should not need series resistors.
Just make sure that the ground return
of the switches goes only to the 7I96S
ground.

Problems with Lichuan Ethercat servo drive

Category: EtherCAT

sorry for this silly questions.
in the comp it is written as 'stat_switched_on' but in hal it becomes 'stat-switched-on'.
I did not know this yet. the same with spaces:
net z-brake cia402.0.stat-switched-on =>lcec.0.4.dout-2 #lcnc freaks out because there is not space after '=>'

Tomorrow i will try to connect the brake to the driver instead of LCNC. as i will get following error when the brake is a bit late. I could maybe fix this with comps however i think the driver should handle this.

Also i need to find a way to reset this driver error through lcnc when it happens.
I hope i will be able to show you a video next week of the ethercat bridgeport :)

Is it  possible you have lost the link? (maybe 7I96S 5V power issue)

What does:

sudo chrt 99 ping -i .001 -q -c 10000 10.10.10.10

report?

(will run 10 seconds and report ping statistics)

Thank you for the quick reply. I will try to figure out how to flash the modified firmware.

As for the wiring (first question): do i need any resistors to limit the current or can i pull the pins directly to ground (common)?

qtplasmac (Operation Error: hm2/hm2_7i76e.0:) in middle of cut

Category: Plasmac

Try running this script to see if it helps:

File Attachment:

File Name: pinirq_2024-11-01.txt
File Size:1 KB

first chmod +x pinirq.txt

then

 sudo ./pinirq.txt enp0s25

(from wherever you browser downloads stuff, probably ~/Downloads)

(this is temporary and will get reset by rebooting)

The best current PC I have for network latency is a HP 8300 USDT
(AMT needs to be turned off in the BIOS) It will run for weeks at a 3 KHz
servo thread rate while doing normal PC web/compiling/etc stuff

Might be a stab in the dark, but i would change the 5V and 24V power supplies first.
