CIA402 Homing module - a start

Surprisingly close to compiling, considering :-). One missing line that breaks `halcompile`'s parser, and a conflict with naming in `custom_home_local_data`. I sent a PR with the simple fix and filed a bug with the compile errors.

Glad you got it figured out.
Persei802 (Jim) made the well thought out layout, I just tweak for users requests and little ideas I have. I'm glad you like it.

Low Cost Raspberry Pi Contoller Board

Category: Driver Boards

I'm running a 7i96e Mesa card on my CNC router and am very happy with it.  But I'm thing it is over kill and lacks a channel.

For a hobby/educational project I need 5 stepper channels and a servo channel.  I was thinking of using a Raspberry Pi 4 or 5.

What would be the cheapest option for a LinucCNC compatible card driven off a Pi?  What are the options today?

pnp sensors, pull down resistors, and NC limit switches with mesa 7i96s

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

For NC switches, you must invert the switch input in hal
(pncconf does this with a "Inv" checkbox next to the input)

To change it in an existing hal file you would change say:

hm2_7i96s.0.inm.00.input-05
to
hm2_7i96s.0.inm.00.input-05-not

(assuming input 5 was a limit switch)

The IP address in the script should match the real IP address of the host device connected to the Mesa card

ignore alarm caused with following error

The first idea isn't very clear to me(commanded position), but the second one is okay. By raising the value of Ferror above the expected value of movment, I avoid the 'following error', and when I return to a new position with G0, I reset Ferror to its normal value again.
Thank You Aciera

What is supposed to end up in NIC?  (I've got two interfaces - not fluent in awk ).. Is the 10.10.10.1 supposed to be the MESA card address?NIC=`awk 'BEGIN{nic=""} {if ($1=="iface") {tmpnic = $2} if ($1=="address") {if ($2 == 10.10.10.1) {nic = tmpnic}}} END{print(nic)}' /etc/network/interfaces`

Temperature Control

Well, is it possible to create own HAL component? Then it can work, yes, I know PID algorithm. I will try to find how to compile and use. Will be nice to create such temperature control component also with temp_ok signal.
PCW: Thanx a lot, "near" is what I looked for!

Love to see your BIOS-settings!
Real good values. Should be good for software stepping too.
Thx

QTDragon_HD Manual tool change (?) problem

yes, It looks like that was it. I have more testing to do later, but with the correct tool already loaded, it proceeded with the program. Will do some actual tool changes later today.

FWIW, I added the tool-prepare-loopback... line to qtdragon_hd_postgui.hal after the manual tool change lines. I probably would have stumbled across this after fumbling around, but you just saved me a day or two.

Thanks Chris, and If I haven't said it - I really like what you've accomplished with QtVCP and QTDragon_HD. Such a step up from my Axis setup and hacks. really looking forward to customizing. - Ron

OUTPUT_SCALE affects only FF1 or both FF1 and P and in general all PID settings?
pncconf by default sets OUTPUT_SCALE to 10  P/FF1=1 and all other settings to 0

i meant normally closed (NC). for the limits. i understand the limits now. NC, when you break contact the circuit opens and the light goes off. if i can just get the joint errors figured out.

I noticed the “loopback” line was missing from the 3 lines for manual tool change in the qt doc. I’ll put it back and see. Thx
