You can look at the manual, but this was definitely  the case at one time.

Edit: the ENA input is actually an active low disable input, that is, it disables
the drive when pulled low. If unconnected, the drive should be enabled.
Is the interface PIN 16 (+24V IN) connected to +24V?

A quick way to check if the drives are enabled is to see if the motor
shaft turns freely. It should hold position if enabled but turn freely if disabled.

Not related to your lack of motion, but to safety:

Its fairly awkward that ENA needs to be powered to disable the drive, but a possible
working arrangement would be to add a pull down resistor on the ENA input so its
normally disabled and then drive it high with a 7I76EU output to enable it
(A 1K 1/2W resistor should work)

Not sure what makes you say they 'don't do anything'.

Adding this to the axis sim in a current build of 2.9:
[SPINDLE_0]
MAX_FORWARD_VELOCITY = 20000

seems to have the described effect:

I just ran into this very Controller Card:

YASKWA BIESSE HSD CNI P601C H0501D601C + P602C

I thought to make a few comments on your post 5 years later.

This card is on the original PCI Architecture (ie. Not PCI Express) which means that the best computers to use for these are the newest that run the correct PCI voltage, which is the DELL GX520 and the DELL GX620. After that, it seems the voltage changes somewhat in the post 2007 computers.

I have done a fresh install of Windows XPSP1, and BIESSE 2.2 with the SP2 patch

I have slapped on 4GB (3GBmax for win x32) and at some point going to source an IDE SSD drive to speed things up.

I think you will find that XP32SP1 is actually very stable.

There are a few fringe PCI to PCI express converters out there, in order to be able to use newer tech (Virtualisation maybe?) but I am a bit worried that I FRY the YASAKAWA board.

I think in about another 5 years, someone is going to be on here looking for a solution since these 2006 computers are getting a touch harder to find,

Yes I have DMM Dyn 4 servos.

So the drives are disabled when the enable input is powered? This seems backwards to me. So would removing power enable the drives?

Use Rufus or Balena Etcher to write the image to USB, those usually work on first try.

The resistor(s) go in series with the plasma voltage  to the negative THCAD input
Safety wise the resistors should be in the plasma source itself.

Thank you for the help guys.  I am still building the computer/cnc.  Wiring the mesa hardware is all that's left.

With that said I am having issues installing Debian 12.  On install I get a bad mirror error.  Once installed sudo apt update gets a few repository errors.  I believe this is all from not being connected to Internet during the install.  Using a USB Wi-Fi dongle that is missing the driver during install, but once booted into Debian 12 is works.  I will try using Ethernet to connect to Internet on the next install.

With that said, are there any eatx or atx motherboards that work well out of the box with Debian 12?  I am using a dell optiplex 9010 motherboard that I put into an old hypertherm microdedge CNC case.

I have tried to read and understand the Hal mystery with a minor of luck . In Hal Meter i there are a signal at => lowpass.0.in but reading zero at  lowpass.0.out  => abs.0.in pyvcp_options.hal . Hal Config 5i24+7i52+8i20

Hello,
I'm trying to find a simple HAL file to configure Hudson BLDC motors in qhi mode.  I have them running in h mode and qh mode, but I can't seem to get it running in qhi mode.  When I run it in qhi mode, the motor seems to spin only in h mode and doesn't switch to qi mode.  Does anybody have a simplified HAL file test script similar to the ones used in the following link for qhi mode?

Shows 4 configuration options for the ini file that don't limit the spindle rpm in any way, are these for master only?
4.1. Spindle limits in the INIIt is now possible to add settings to the [SPINDLE] section of the INI file

MAX_FORWARD_VELOCITY = 20000 The maximum spindle speed (in rpm)

MIN_FORWARD_VELOCITY = 3000 The minimum spindle speed (in rpm)

MAX_REVERSE_VELOCITY = 20000 This setting will default to MAX_FORWARD_VELOCITY if omitted.

MIN_REVERSE_VELOCITY = 3000` This setting is equivalent to MIN_FORWARD_VELOCITY but for reverse spindle rotation. It will default to the MIN_FORWARD_VELOCITY if omitted.

As the error message indicates:
print "change_prolog: Toolchanger soft fault %d" % int(self.params[5601])

Is invalid syntax for python 3. Possibly you imported the 'nc_files' folder from an older version of linuxcnc?

You might want to replace your "nc_files/remap_lib" folder with the one available here:

github.com/LinuxCNC/linuxcnc/tree/2.9/nc_files/remap_lib
