and as i understand, you suggest to comment out the following lines in the interface file? correct? or will i also have to edit something in the Wpa supplicant? (once again i would prefer doing it through the menu-config)

Help : Layman configuration for Raspberry Pi 5, Linuxcnc 2.9. and Mesa 7i96

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

with network manager installed, i cannot reach the network interface file like earlier.
i tried to use
> sudo service NetworkManager stop
but then i cannot enter the network menu in the sudo menu-config anymore

to edit the file in the etc/network folder i cannot save whatever i have edited. and i would really like to edit it through the sudo menu-config rather than messing up any files manually through the filemanager

whats the go around?

Remove the setup for the network you want to manage from the network file.
Leave the wired connection in the network file and use network manager for the wifi. I turn the wifi off whilst running a job.
May help with latency, stops Bad Guys from messing stuff up.

Reasons to DIY build a 3D printer

Personally I would only opt for ballscews on the Z axis on a bed slinger.
But in all honesty before knocking the Ender 3 use the machine, spend some time setting it up, stiffer bed springs or as the current trend solid silicon spacers. The printer itself is only part of the equation, the secret to a good print, we're talking functional prints, is designing the CAD model with thought as to how it will be printed. Dealing with shrinkage on holes, understanding that 0.1mm accuracy is the best you can expect. What works for my Ender 3 may not work for yours for nailing hole dimensions, then throw the type of filament into the equation and things change again.
There's a reason the Ender 3 was a popular choice as an entry level printer, it Just Worked out of the box.

If you setup a network interface in the interfaces file,
that particular interface is no longer managed by
the network manager.

Generally only suggested for Intel NIC, RPi uses a Broadcom NIC.

I would also recommend the zswap mod if you intended to use an interface other than Axis, there is a reference to that in the index.

Once you have networking setup you can configure your Mesa card as you would for a normal PC, there are plenty of threads on the forum regarding this subject, there is nothing particular to the RPi platform in this respect.

Commission drive on AX5206) using TC3 to prep for linuxcnc-ethercat

Category: EtherCAT

To be honest, I was unable to follow you along. "every odd" ?

I have since made some progress. After moving to Firmware 2.10 and hence Drive Manager 2, I managed to get a setup going, that allows me to enable move CW and CCW. However, scaling is way off.

Sending a move of 5° results in roughly 375-390° on the output side.

Any ideas?

Ethercat installation from repositories - how to step by step

Category: EtherCAT

Dear All,

Does anyone have information that the KINCO FD425-EF-000 drive works with linuxcnc? On Ethercat?
Is there an xml file provided by the manufacturer, can I use that?
I haven't connected an Ethercat device to the machine under Linuxcnc yet.

LinuxCNC-RIO - RealtimeIO for LinuxCNC based on FPGA (ICE40 / ECP5)

Category: Computers and Hardware

Having an interesting issue:

I am in the process of moving from my old PC to a Laptop with LinuxCNC. I have riocore up and running and can flash, ping,... from the laptop. However, the machine is not moving. I see that the inputs work.

Then I tried to copy the complete riocore folder from the old PC to the Laptop as well. Exactly the same files, just another machine. No difference, only inputs are working.

The wiring is correct as the machine works on the old pc.

Any idea what to look for?

Help : Layman configuration for Raspberry Pi 5, Linuxcnc 2.9. and Mesa 7i96

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

ah great! i managed to get connection to the mesa card and wifi simply through the sudo menu-config . like i said, i had gone through all the posts mentioned above, but going through them with index page you mentioned helped quite alot. now i can ping the card at 10.10.10.10 and get responses.

my next question is,

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 10.10.10.100
netmask 255.255.255.0

is sufficient in the interface file or shall i also add

hardware-irq-coalesce-rx-usecs 0 after netmask? and whats the significance of this line? Thanks again!
