Remora - Rpi Software Stepping Using External Microcontroller via SPI

Category: Computers and Hardware

Yes, good point cakeslob. The new component includes the spike filter and relies on the raw count feedback from the controller board, not the DDS accumulator value. A good opportunity to migrate to OS6 firmwares and legacy the OS5 versions.

Strange problem with axis GUI

Category: AXIS

The machine works now. Seems this irqbalance setting is crucial with the 7i96S.
(Took me all in all several days of reading the forum and testing stuff to figure this out.. Sorry for my little confusing postings; gmoccapy/axis works ofc fine too!)

LinuxCNC on Intel Clear Linux

Sounds like an AI post.

Note I think the term Intelligence is used very loosely.

Securing a cnc computer is extremely easy if you follow 2 steps.

1: physically secure the machine so idiots don’t have access.

2: apart from the network required for connection to a hardware step generator, eg Mesa, don’t connect the machine to a network.

Point 1 is really the first step in general computer security.

Probably a relic from the time when Intel was hell bent on booting Linux in under 10 seconds on a normal PC.
Good times, they did make it boot in 10 seconds, even from a CD! Ah when Intel was chasing technology, not robbing people of their hard earned cash with faulty CPU's factory overclocked to hell and back...oh wait, most do not make it back! :)
Apple's best move ever = switching to ARM
Now ARM making s#it with licenses !

So Intel just wasted a lot of resources on reinventing Gentoo, heh.

LinuxCNC-RIO - RealtimeIO for LinuxCNC based on FPGA (ICE40 / ECP5)

Category: Computers and Hardware

@gitano
QSlider is fixed, but have other problems with the qt gui's,
better using axis at the moment.

@mBender
you need only connect one of the 5V/GND lines, and it's better to use only the 5V not the 3.3V input

CS = Chip-Select
SEL = Select
it's the same

LinuxCNC-RIO - RealtimeIO for LinuxCNC based on FPGA (ICE40 / ECP5)

Category: Computers and Hardware

Hey, great work!

I got my Tang Nano 9k with a W5500 and some TXS0108E Logic Level Shifter Bi-Directional Module for the I/O.

For whatever reason my first W5500 smoked...

Some Question:
Wiring of the W5500, I can't really find a lot support online.
Do all ground lines need to be connected?
Same question for the 3.3V lines?
How much mA can the 3.3V and 5V line of the Tang support?

Last question is CS the same as SEL in LinuxCNC Rio?

Tool table location

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

I know this is a bit old, but I also had a problem loading the tool table from a directory specified in the .ini file.
After a bit of investigation it appears that specifying the location as
TOOL_TABLE = ~/millerfiles/defaultTT.tbl
does not work, but using
TOOL_TABLE = /home/plasma2/millerfiles/defaultTT.tbl
works fine.

PNCconfig error

Hello Tommy

PNCconfig is really convenient to use especially the accessories page for pendent set-ups. From here on I will just restart a config to make any changes.

Thank you for the help.

Updating Probing Routines with Probe Enabled Pin

Category: QtPyVCP

Don't worry my reply is even older. I ended up not using the probe protection pins in the end. As if there was any real vibration from the machine it kept on tripping while moving.

I had tried to switch to the DIG3D.Fix but that is what just kept on tripping on me so i went back to the DIG-Z.Fix and have just learnt a lot more now so crash way less regularly.

Manual Tool Change (Stable version) and tool load position

Category: QtPyVCP

Ok so getting there slowly.
My machine is a none repeatable ER20 collet, Fixed location tool setter.
Workflow: I normally zero from my tool setter with my probe (I know that this is not the most accurate but the tool setter is a softer spring so it always triggers before the tool setter and seems to be good within a .01 ish mm) then probe work cordinates change to the correct tool have it set tool length as part of the tool change and we are off to the chips.

ProbeBasic upgraded to the stable version, at the stage of trying to get the tool change process back to working how it was.  In the past i used version 3.0 of the ToolTall18T script (modified a bit) and it was working correctly.  Do a M6 or a tool load button and it would move the spindle to a 'Loading location' and then do the probe set the tool length and pause for M01 break if selected.

Trying to figure out what the best way to get started for using the new tool dialogue would be to return to what i had before.  If i enable the M6 Remap then i loose the new tool dialogue.  If i just use the M6 G43 or tool load button it just says ok insert tool and press button but dosnt then go and measure the tool length. Subroutines folder is direct copy from machine_setup folder in the new install.

Help me solve big latency (INTEL NUC7 / Pentium J5005 )

Category: Computers and Hardware

Yes it is good for Mesa, so if you have the Mesa, wire it, pewer it, connect and do some tests, might need some network tweaks, but might be all good.
