LitexCNC: firmware and driver for 5A-75B and 5A-75E

Category: Driver Boards

Please ignore my post above. First time working with a servo thread, had no clue how to initialize it... it seems to work now.

New update on STMBL

Yess, only the fanuc is a bit tricky to connect because the pinout on the drive, but should work. All the others will work without issues. You can find more info here: freakontrol.github.io/stmbl/docs/pinouts .
Keep in mind the documentation there is still temporary and I planned to reorganize and enrich it.

Linuxcnc controlled by smart phone or other device running a webbrowser

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Hi Tommy,

Thanks for your responce.

I have also seen a linuxcnc web interface. It's years ago. I think on youtube.

Using wasm is just a outcome of trying out different approaches.
It's quite hard to get started with wasm, the installing on qt-creator costed me half a day to find out.

But once you are off. It's easy.

Ok i now have a mobile phone that interacts trough a webbrowser with the linuxcnc nml server.
I have modified the gui a little bit. Even the combined xy moves are working.

It's very responsive and stable.

Codeberg is updated with this version of code.

Thank you for everything.
You are welcome. I heard there was a water flooding in your country. Are you involved?

Joint homing offset and following error - HELP

Setting the servo period too short, will often result in a sluggish unresponsive computer. The reason is that the computer uses all of it's available resources for servicing the real time threads and there are not enough free cycles to run anything else. It is unlikely you will be able to run a servo-thread faster than about 250us even on a very fast PC, and if you are using a Mesa Ethernet card 500us might even be optimistic.

What thread rate were you trying last when the PC was locking up? 500000? What computer are you using? What Mesa Card? What Linux real time kernel are you using and what Linux Distro?

I'm not exactly sure how to tell you to start the PC without starting Linuxcnc (I've never configured Linux to start Linuxcnc automatically.)

Starting the PC in recovery mode would surely do it, but I'm not sure how much help that will give you, because that doesn't even give you a desktop, just a terminal with the barest of essentials. It might be easier to start the pc using a Linux installation disk and run a live session from there to edit your config. If your PC has a none real time kernel installed (beside the real time one) you could use Grub to select and boot it instead. That would force Linuxcnc into simulation mode without the real time threads to slow it down.

Installing older version of ProbeBasic on buster and linuxcnc 2.8

Category: QtPyVCP

As i said it is no option because of the change to debian 12.. I would need to update my hardware and everything. Thats the reason why i hate this online stuff..

i tried to install QtPyVCP v0.3.10 because this is what my machine runs on. But it seems the dependencies are not defined as the versions which were used back than.. Alternativley the latest version which runs with python2.7 and LinuxCNC2.8

Todd Zuercher,

I read your comments, that was answer I was looking for and will not think about using it.
If you have some ideas of how to bring it to life I would appreciate it or if someone can fix it could pay for it, if can sell it in working condition for a 1000-2000€ would be very happy with it.

Switch to teleop mode while unhomed bei MDI cmd or try to start nc code

Category: AXIS

Thank you for the reply.

Yes, indeed. I also have some machines working flawlessly. But I am more familiar with servos and encoders. So loss of position is not a problem and I only homing once.

Know I rebuild a machine wuth steppers and need sometimes a homing here and there. Nevertheless, dont fight the setting. I read a little bit about teleop mode (and free and coord mode). Unhomed the switch should not be possible.

A friend of mine tested the same with more complex kinematics yesterday. No problems if you have "real" joints and axes (e.g. robots). So no switch to teleop while trying to start a program unhomed.

In my case I would like to define different velocities homed and unhomed. Its a 1,5 x 1,85 m machine and I dont want to home with 5m/min or more. So I jog unhomed near the switches. For this I want to set the velocity to 9m/min, while G0 normally is more like 20m/min.

No doubt. I can handle the issue different. I just want to mentioned that the behaviour is strange.

Tommylight,
www.controltech.com.tr/Documents/Others/...stro%20UG%20Iss4.pdf
Here is the manual.
You may be right about X axis, cables are still a mess since just wanted to fast check if axis work and didnt set machine in place properly.
Before buying, after looking a machine I have already read manuals and realize its must buy because was 90% sure 3axis will work with step/dir and price was less than if they sold only steel construction to junkyard for price of steel at that time. (I still dont get why they didnt do that)

UC300eth is bob from Uccnc, I went with it after reading they are very good, easy to setup and that Linux is much harder especially when things get complicated.
On the other hand Acorn was too expensive but probably best solution.

They told me only battery is an issue but still nobody else has buy it over long time, I would like to fix it and maybe sell it if its obsolete to work with anymore. Am sure someone will need it and as see are very expensive.

Questions about milling machines with linear scales

Also if the mechanics of the machine have backlash, you will struggle with imperfections at the points of direction reversals, even with linear scales. And that backlash will likely cause instability and preventing you from tuning the PID loop stiff enough to get good results.

We have an older SCM Routomat machine with a NUM 1040 control we bought about 8yrs ago. It was brain dead when we bought it due to a dead battery. We were able to salvage a backup of the machine's parameters from the old HMI PC's harddrive to revive it. (After whacking it on a table a couple times to free up stuck platters.)

There isn't been a day since that I haven't wished we would not have been able to fix the old control, and that I would have converted it to Linuxcnc from the start.

Then again about 4 years ago we had some issues with the control, ended up having to send the control out to NUM for repair. My superiors at work decided that if it would cost less than $5000 we'd have it repaired, if more then we'd talk about letting me retrofit it. Wouldn't you know the bill came back at almost exactly $5000, and they decided to fix it. Ugh!

the usertabs give you the entire upper canvas pretty much to do anything you want and you can nest other tabs in them if you want more realestate for customization.  just a thought!

same here, been too long and too many other versions since to remember what would be needed. i would really not waste time with that though, ther newer version is much better. we give you two tabs to customize where the customized ui file lives in your config folder and is loaded at startup, so your changes and edits on those tabs will remain unchanged through updates etc. i would imagine you could remodel your build using that method and would be much happier, you will have the latest version foing forward, it is now installable via apt and you would likely spend less time doing that than solving how to install an old deprecated version with unsupported/unavailable dependencies.

got my mesa cards today, a 7c81 and a 7i77. If i read this correctly i need to flash the firmware to the 7c81, in my case i would guess the 7c81_7i77x2d.bit, but i cant find anything in the 7c81 manual. do i have have to flash the 7i77 too or does it come preloaded with firmware?
and another question about the wiring: the 7c81 has a 5v in, so no worries. the 7i77 has a field power and a 5V. Whats here the preferred way: supplying 5v to the 7c81 and configuring the 7i77 so that it gets the 5v from the 7c81 and connect the "field power to the 24V of the machine? or is it possible to connect only the field power to 24v and power the all cards and the pi from there?

Maho MH-C 700P Achsen bewegen sich dauerhaft Indramat 3TRM2

Category: Basic Configuration

Hello and thank you for the information. I'll try to calibrate the axes a little more precisely this evening. As already mentioned, I spent a lot of time calibrating it, maybe I'm going the wrong way. I'll check out the link forum.linuxcnc.org/10-advanced-configura...ning-detailed-how-to

watch again, maybe I've done something wrong so far.
Is there an autotuning option?

W5500-EVB-Pico2 Remora c0mpatible?

Seen this last night on youtube, wondered the same thing.
I would venture a guess at yes, it should work as chances are it uses SPI between W5500 and Pico, although i never checked.
Adding a hat with 3 step sticks would make for a nifty little controller.
