7i77 TTL encoder

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Good morning
I recheck wiring and jumper.
Now I change jumper from right to left for A and B encoder done.

Now working,

super thanks everyone DEV.
Asis,

TB6600 and all those packaged drives can not do DC motors at all and all require step/dir signaling, so yes you can probably use the normal 7i97T outputs but it will be of very little use due to limited step rate, most probably (not sure as i have not used 7i97T).
But 7i97T should have a IDC26 header and those pins can be used for almost everything, including doing very fast step rates, although this might need modified firmware or it might already exist, again i do not know for sure.
If this last option is feasible, using a cheap BOB is a good idea as it will provide a bit of protection for the FPGA from miss wiring or excessive voltage.
You can skip all of the above if your PC has a parallel port or if you have an add on parallel port card.
This should have been my first question, so does the existing DC motor have an encoder attached?
And a friendly warning, BTS7960 maximum working voltage is 16V, if i recall correctly. They are made for in car use.

You can add a simple parallel port breakout to the 7I97s parallel
expansion connector to buffer step/dir or PWM signals

I guess I think I can send step/dir on the regular outputs on the 7197t, but I don’t have many of those, although, I’m not using all of them.
but I’ve only used 2 of the 6 analog drive outputs, so I feel like I should use those for some reason.

So I actually don’t understand what signals I can send. I bought a 7i97t cause it can send the analog signal to the preexisting servos on the machine.
I see most stepper drives want step/dir signals, although some will take cw/ccw.
Im not sure how or if I can send those on the 7i97t. Or even the r-pwm/l-pwm that I think the bts7960 wants, although I’m pretty sure I can do that.

Well for once I didn’t pick the worst choice.
I actually did get something with a bts7960.
Can I use a tb6600 w/ tb67s109 for a dc motor? I assumed those would only work for steppers.

Noooooooooooo L298, it has no current limiting, can do only 2A and it heats like on fire.
Get the bts7960, can do 40A, costs twice as much as L298, often less. Usually 2 of them on the same board so can do 2 motors at once.
Or skip that and get a cheap stepper drive, the so called TB6600 with the TB67S109, does 3.5A and has current limiting and microstepping, so everything you need, for about 12$.

I just ordered a cheapo hbridge.
I doubt its quality or even a good choice, but I’m hoping I might learn something along the way.
If I can get it to work, great. If not, I’ll start looking into servo/steppers drivers or maybe try that other z I was offered.
I took apart the hypertherm thc controller just for fun.
I know just enough to look at their board and identify some of their h bridge components but I don’t know enough to use them to make circuit. Maybe I’ll learn enough to give that a shot one of these days.
Once again, I appreciate the help.
Rod, I know you’re consistently telling me the easy way to do this stuff, but I’m stubborn enough that I do things the hard way, and often fail, before I give the easy way a chance.

Remora - ethernet NVEM / EC300 / EC500 cnc board

Category: Computers and Hardware

Remora is running on STM32F4 boards, but the Leafboy board uses a DP83848 Ethernet PHY chip. The ethernet version of Remora for the STM32 uses a different PHY chip so cannot be used directly.

Mesa Config Tool 7i96s MPG Firmware Flash Error

Category: Configuration Tools

Might be helpful for mesaflash to echo the file name when
verifying, in case there is an issue there.

Remora for RP2040

The software Remora PWM module would need to be ported over to the RP2040 firmware. Or better still, a hardware version developed.

Sorry
I don't know if the question is relevant to the thread.
I have a Leafboy EDG 381 with STM32F407V

and I was asking for the transformation with REMORA
is it a possible way

thanks

Mesa Config Tool 7i96s MPG Firmware Flash Error

Category: Configuration Tools

I see the exact same issue with 7I97T+7I76: I've flashed and verified the firmware using mesaflash, and I also copied those firmware files to local/lib/libmesact .

When I use MesaCT and select the firmware and click "VERIFY" I receive a similar message to the one the OP posted.

The 2.6A is probably for continuous torque. you will typically need about 3 or 4
times this rating from the HBridge for peak torque, so a 10A HBridge is not
unreasonable.

The control loop in LinuxCNC will only supply the needed torque (so near 0 current when idle)

The stall detection would be tricky unless the HBridge has an overcurrent sense output
A home switch would be likely easier at least linuxCNC setup wise
